Pokemon Scarlet & Violet player loses four shinies after “scary” random encounter

Shiny Pokemon can often turn the tables on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players, as one fan learned this the hard way after an exceptionally lucky shiny encounter went downhill due to a common rookie mistake.

There has never been a better time for shiny Pokemon hunters than playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The Teal Mask DLC brought about some amazing changes to shiny hunting such as better graphics, improved mass outbreaks, and shinies spawning in the most unexpected places.

These updates have ensured loads of fun for fans during their gameplay in the Paldea and Kitakami regions, but a player had the most unfortunate turn of events after a random shiny encounter turned into a bitter experience.

Reddit user ‘BossaNovva’ shared a post that showed a Quaxly hatching from an Egg in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. While the Egg hatched, a Paldean Tauros (Combat Breed) ran into the trainer out of nowhere.

Once the hatching animation was complete, the OP encountered the Pokemon and was surprised to find out that it was a shiny Paldean Tauros. They quoted the post with: “Think the shinies are hunting me now.”

But this is only half the story as the player added more information on the events that unfolded after the encounter. The OP stated, “Remember to save your game kids, my game crashed shortly after this, and lost the Tauros plus three other shinies.”

A couple of users wrote: “RIP” and “F” in reference to the OP failing to save the game before encountering the shinies, but most players seem to have caught shinies from such a lucky encounter.

“I got my Tauros just like that,” a player mentioned, while another added: “I caught a shiny Hawlucha in a similar way. I ran into a Lokix and decided to squish it and as I was doing so the Hawlucha ran up on me, so after the big fainted I got the shiny bird.”

This wasn’t everything in the comments section as one player gave an extremely useful tip that could help fans save a few seconds and quickly encounter the shiny after hatching an Egg.

The tip is to “turn off the ‘would you like to nickname your Pokemon’ prompt if you don’t often use it. Saves a bunch of time in egg-hatching.”

Shiny hunting in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet continues to surprise the community and it remains to be seen if such experiences are also present in the Indigo Disk DLC.
