Shiny hunting is a huge hit among Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans, as they spare no effort in searching throughout Paldea and Kitakami for the rarest shinies. But when a player had a jaw-dropping shiny encounter in the strangest place possible, everyone was shocked.

After the release of the Teal Mask DLC of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, most players revisit Paldea to beat Tera Raids or grab more shiny Pokemon. While the former has a fixed schedule, fans spend day and night hunting for shinies in the game.

Though shinies are extremely rare, you can expect to come across them in the biome where Pokemon are located or even within walls of caves.

But a lucky player found a rare shiny in the last place someone would expect to even find a Pokemon spawn: on the top of a huge crystal.

User ‘MoonMaster3’ shared a Reddit post and wrote, “The most unique shiny encounter I’ll probably ever have (and catch)” after finding a shiny Glimmet on the top of a crystal located in the Area Zero main cave of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

The post prompted other users to chip in and relate to the OP’s amazement by commenting, “That is..uh…definitely unique. I knew they spawned in walls, never would have thought to go on top of a crystal and look down though.”

Others were dumbstruck and mentioned: “Pokemon can’t normally spawn there either, this was a special case scenario” and “Pokemon can’t spawn on the top of the crystal building lol.”

It also appears that the OP not only had an unexpected shiny encounter, but the Pokemon itself is a rare shiny to find, as one player wrote, “Glimmora was my first shiny, I’ve never seen a Glimmet!”

Glimmet and its evolution Glimmora are widely found in the main cave of Area Zero.

Interestingly, this unique shiny encounter made many wonder if they had lost shinies because they just didn’t bother to check for Pokemon on the top of crystals, as a player put it, “How many shinies have we collectively lost?!”

Dedicated shiny hunters already found it “annoying how Pokemon get stuck in the walls” and now they’ll have to keep their eyes open for possible shinies in even impossible locations.
