A brand-new costumed Pikachu has been announced for the Pokemon Go World Championships 2024 event and unlike most versions of this icon, fans can’t wait to catch it.

Costumed Pokemon are a mixed bag for the community, with people either loving or hating them. Pikachu, in particular, gets featured with a hat every few events, and most trainers just abandon it.

The World Championships Pikachu, however, dons diving gear complete with goggles, a snorkel, and flippers to reflect the destination of the annual tournament – Honolulu, Hawaii. When Reddit user ‘raggedy10’ showed off this new addition, fellow players were thrilled.

Many called it the best costumed Pokemon in the game and admitted they couldn’t wait to add it to their collection. Others agreed it was the “cutest” of all Pikachu versions.

Aside from being an event-exclusive find available in Field Research tasks and 1-Star Raids, World Championships 2024 Pikachu can also be shiny. This gives everyone more incentive to grind for the “epic” little Electric-type species.

To this, a fan wrote, “I need that Pikachu in both lucky and shiny and I will do my darndest to catch as many as I can. I need it. Maybe even as an actual figure.” Note that the plushie is available for purchase, although it will be limited to Honolulu players during the event.

Some expect the tasks for Pikachu to be challenging but trainers pointed out that since it was also available in 1-Star Raids, beating it would be easy. Also, keep in mind that World Championship Pikachu is never available in the wild.

The 2024 edition will run from Friday, August 16, at 10 AM to Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 8 PM (local time). Aside from the special Pikachu, the event lets you use Charged TMs to remove Frustration from your Shadow attackers.

To beat Pikachu Raids easily, use any of Pokemon Go’s top Ground-type counters like Primal Groudon, Mega Garchomp, and Excadrill.
