Getting Mega Energy is difficult in Pokemon Go, but players have discovered that the game offers this prized asset completely free for the iconic Gen 1 Bug/Poison-type, Beedrill, when doing a simple activity.

Mega Evolutions are some of the strongest Pokemon in the franchise and for Pokemon Go players, these are usually their leading counters for the toughest Raids, including those with Legendaries and other Megas.

But, collecting enough Energy to Mega-evolve a species is easier said than done, as you’ll have to first beat its challenging Raid, get its Mega, and then walk to gain more of it.

Now, fans have come across an extremely simple way to grab tons of free Beedrill Mega Energy, as revealed in a post shared on the Pokemon Go subreddit. The OP, named ‘wackychimp’ flexed their collection of 4,030 Beedrill Mega Energy.

Mega Beedrill was never available in Raids and the community was rewarded its Mega Energy through a Research quest, but many have since run out of it.

A user asked, “Hold up, how do I access this Beedrill Mega goodness… I didn’t get any more Mega Energy post the research,” to which others revealed the surprisingly simple method: “Spin a Gym.”

By spinning Gyms, you can collect 100 Mega Energy to get Mega Beedrill and then walk it as your Buddy to gain five Mega Energy for every 1km covered, making it an easy Mega grind. With a monstrous 303 Attack stat, Mega Beedrill dishes high Bug and Poison-type damage output in Pokemon Go.

When some trainers were curious about how much Mega Energy they could gain for Beedrill, a person mentioned, “It is capped at 9,999 Mega Energy.”

But, a player warned against not spinning any more Gyms after grabbing 9,999 Mega Energy. “I’m capped at 9999 Beedrill mega energy so it’s still funny to see the energy drop from the Gym when I spin it,” they explained.

Meanwhile, you can check out how to get Volcarona, another powerful Bug-type in Pokemon Go, and use the Party Play feature to win Raids more easily.
