Yveltal in Pokemon Go Raids

The Destruction Pokemon is available in Go Raids once again, and players can now add Yveltal to their Pokedex. If you’re planning to challenge Yveltal in Pokemon Go 5-Star Raids, here’s all you need to know about it, including weaknesses, best counters, and shiny availability.

Pokemon Go players have powerful Legendary Pokemon to take down in 5-Star Raids. Xerneas and Yveltal are back, and players have the chance to add these Gen 6 Pokemon to their teams.

However, taking Yveltal down can be quite the challenge, so here’s everything you need to know about its Pokemon Go Raid, including weaknesses, best counters, and shiny availability.

How to get Yveltal in Pokemon Go

The only way to get Yveltal in Pokemon Go is by defeating it in its 5-Star Raid and catching it afterward. The Destruction Pokemon debuted in Pokemon Go alongside Xerneas in May 2021, and it’s come back in August 2023 with another challenge. The Yveltal Raids are taking place from August 27 to September 1 in Pokemon Go.

Some Legendary Pokemon return to the game after a while with easier challenges or special events, but this is the only way to get Yveltal at the moment. The 5-Star Raid rotation seems to bring back Legendary Pokemon at least once a year for players to complete their Pokedex.

Yveltal type & weaknesses in Pokemon Go

Yveltal is a dual Dark and Flying-type Pokemon, meaning it’s weak against Rock, Electric, Ice, and Fairy-type moves.

On the other hand, Yveltal is completely immune to Ground and Psychic-type attacks and can resist Ghost, Grass, and Dark-type moves. Do note that immunities in Pokemon Go don’t work like in mainline games. This means Yveltal has a bigger resistance against those types. Either way, you should avoid those categories when picking counters for this Raid.

Yveltal won’t excel at any of the Go Battle League categories, but it’s always great to add another Legendary Pokemon to your team.

Best counters for Yveltal Pokemon Go Raid

Considering Yveltal’s many weaknesses, you have a wide array of counters to pick from in Pokemon Go. We recommend tackling this Raid with Mega Gardevoir or Mega Tyranitar for the best results, but you can pick some of these counters as well:

  • Manectric with Thunder Fang and Wild Charge
  • Galarian Darmanitan with Ice Fang and Avalanche
  • Aerodactyl with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
  • Rampardos with Smach Down and Rock Slide
  • Ampharos with Charge Beam and Zap Cannon
  • Glalie with Frost Breath and Avalanche
  • Abomasnow with Powder Snow and Weather Ball
  • Electivire with Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
  • Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker

Some of these Pokemon can Mega Evolve for even better results in battle, so keep that in mind for this Raid.

Can Yveltal be shiny in Pokemon Go?

Yes, shiny Yveltal is available in Pokemon Go. Lucky trainers might get an encounter with shiny Yveltal after beating its 5-Star Raid. The odds of getting shiny Yveltal are around 5% or a 1 in 20 chance, so you might have to do many Raids before encountering one.

It’s also important to note that shiny Legendaries have a 100% catch rate, meaning you won’t need to waste any Berries to maximize your odds.

That’s everything you need to know about Yveltal’s Raids in Pokemon Go. For more content, be sure to check out our other guides:
