Pokemon Go An Instinctive Hero Field & Special Research tasks & rewards
May introduced a new event in Pokemon Go and players have the chance to get another costumed Pokemon through a new Special Research story. Here’s everything you need to know, including An Instinctive Hero Field Research tasks and rewards.
New Research tasks are available for all Pokemon Go players thanks to a new special event. An Instinctive Hero is centered around Team Instinct, and Team Leader Spark gives trainers a chance to get a new costumed Pokemon through a new Special Research story.
The event also brought new Field Research tasks for players to complete, so we’ll cover every task and reward below.

The Pokemon Go An Instinctive Hero event features a Special Research story where players will help Team Instinct Leader Spark with his investigations. Here’s the full list of tasks and rewards:
Step 1 of 4
- Make 10 Nice Throws – 5 Razz Berries
- Catch 20 Pokemon – 5 Poke Balls
- Spin 10 PokeStops or Gyms – Exeggcute encounter
Completion rewards: 1500 XP and Egg Incubator
Step 2 of 4
- Hatch an Egg – 1 Incense
- Use 15 Razz Berries to help catch Pokemon – 5 Great Balls
- Spin 20 PokeStops or Gyms – Ferroseed encounter
Completion rewards: 2000 XP and 20 Chansey Candy
Step 3 of 4
- Catch 30 Pokemon – 10 Great Balls
- Earn 5 Candy walking with your buddy – 5 Pinap Berries
- Hatch 3 Eggs – Chansey encounter
Completion rewards: 2500 XP and an Elekid with Spark-themed accessory encounter
Step 4 of 4
- Claim reward! – 10 Pinap Berries
- Claim reward! – 10 Great
- Claim reward! – 10 Ultra Balls
Completion rewards: 2500 XP and 2500 Stardust
The official Pokemon Go blog noted that lucky players might get a shiny Elekid with a Spark-themed accessory. It also stated that this is the only way to get the special Pokemon this season.

Pokemon Go players that spin PokeStops during the An Instinctive Hero event might get an event-exclusive Field Research task. Here’s the full list of tasks and rewards:

Lucky trainers might find these Pokemon in shiny form, except for Magneton.
