Juno in Overwatch 2 Season 12

Overwatch 2 Season 12 is the next major update to Blizzard’s ongoing Hero shooter, which is set to bring Juno – the first new character since Venture in Season 10.

Although Season 11 was a huge patch that focused on maps and crossovers like the Transformers event, the prospect of a new face joining the roster always gets the community excited.

So, here’s everything we know about Overwatch 2 Season 12 so far, from the release date to the new Hero.

Overwatch 2 Season 12 release date

Overwatch 2 Season 12 begins on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, according to the Battle Pass timer shown in-game. Although this date hasn’t been officially confirmed, this method has been reliable in previous seasons.

Of course, there’s always a chance that Blizzard could push the update back if they need more time to work on it, so we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

New Hero Juno arrives in Season 12

Season 12’s new Hero is Juno, the first Support character added to the game since Illari back in Season 6. She is the first Hero in OW lore to come from Mars and her ship can be seen entering Earth’s atmosphere if you look to the sky on US-based maps in Season 11.

She was first revealed at BlizzCon 2023 under the codename ‘Space Ranger,’ where the devs described her as “highly mobile” with “quite a bit of verticle mobility.” This was later confirmed when they showed off her abilities:

  • Mediblaster (Primary Weapon): Burst fire SMG that heals teammates and deals damage to enemies it hits.
  • Martian Overboots (Passive): While airborne, press Jump to double jump and hold Jump to hover.
  • Pulsar Torpedoes: Homing projectiles that heal allies over time and damage enemies.
  • Glide Boost: Glide horizontally with increased movement speed.
  • Hyper Ring: Deploy a ring that increases the movement speed of allies that pass through it.
  • Orbital Ray (Ultimate): Call down a ray that travels forward, healing allies and increasing their damage.

What to expect

We’re still waiting for the full roadmap of what Overwatch 2 Season 12 has in store, but certain new features arrive with each season like clockwork. So, based on previous updates, here’s everything we expect to see:

  • New Battle Pass
  • Hero buffs and nerfs
  • Events
  • LTMs
  • New skins

We’ll be sure to update this page with more details on the update as the devs reveal what they have planned.

In the meantime, there’s still plenty to enjoy in Overwatch 2 Season 11, from the new Community Crafted mode which introduced fan-requested balancing changes, as well as the chance to earn a free Art Deco Symmetra skin.
