Overwatch 2 players have been treated to plenty of new Heroes since the sequel launched, with Illari making her debut in Season 6. But when does the next new character join the roster? Here’s everything we know so far.

Overwatch 2 Season 6 is well underway, and fans have wasted no time burning through the Invasion PvE missions and grinding the new Battle Pass. But arguably the biggest arrival in the Invasion update was Illari, a new Support Hero who is already making a name for herself.

The diverse roster of characters is what makes Overwatch the success it is today, as the unique abilities make each match play out differently. It’s no surprise then that the release of a new Hero is always a big deal in the community.

So, when does the next new Hero come to Overwatch 2? Here’s everything we know so far.

When is the next new Hero in Overwatch 2?

The next new Hero is expected to arrive with Overwatch 2 Season 8, although nothing has been confirmed by Blizzard themselves. Since the sequel launched, the devs have committed to dropping a new character every two seasons, which would make Season 8 the most likely after Illari was added in Season 6.

This will likely mean that Overwatch 2 Season 7 will not feature a new Hero, and will instead come with new maps and modes for players to try out.

Overwatch 2 new Hero details

While very little has been confirmed by the developers, we do know that the next Overwatch 2 Hero will be a Tank. This was revealed in a roadmap shared by Blizzard teasing what’s to come in Season 7 and beyond.

Blizzard confirmed a new Tank is on the way.

This will mark the third time a new Tank has made their debut in Overwatch 2, with Junker Queen arriving at launch before Ramattra in the Season 2 update.

We’ll have to wait until nearer the time for details to be shared, but fans can look forward to a brand-new Tank in Overwatch 2 in the coming months.
