Overwatch 2 Season 7 introduced the Group Respawn feature, an interesting new system that could change players’ strategies in every game mode. Here’s how the Group Respawn feature works in Overwatch 2 Season 7.

Overwatch 2 Season 7 has not only brought the Rise of Darkness update to the game but has also introduced crucial updates that are meant to answer players’ long-time requests. However, there has been a surprise addition in this new season that could be a game-changer for every game mode: Group Respawn.

“We think that team fights are some of the most enjoyable moments in our game, but we’ve all been in matches where team cohesion–or lack thereof–makes these moments a rarity,” explained Blizzard in the Overwatch 2 Season 7 patch notes.

According to devs, Group Respawn is a new system being tested in Quick Play that will let players synchronize their entire team respawn in case of a wipeout. Here’s how Group Respawn works in Overwatch 2 Season 7.

What is Group Respawn in Overwatch 2?

Overwatch 2 Season 7 confirmed Group Respawn as a new feature for Quick Play and it means that if Heroes die within 5 seconds of each other, their respawn time will synchronize for them to get into the game together.

Blizzard hope that Group Respawn reduces stomps for teams that can’t group up.

For this to happen, respawn time can get either shorter or longer for each player, so they can revive simultaneously on the map. However, if a hero dies further apart than 5 seconds from another death on their team, they’ll respawn time will still be 10 seconds.

This new dynamic is currently only available in Quick Play, but Blizzard has commented that they’ll be “listening closely” to the community feedback to consider introducing it to Competitive Play.

That’s everything you need to know about the new Group Respawn option in Overwatch 2. For more on Overwatch 2, be sure to check out our other guides:
