Overwatch 2 offers plenty of stats in your Career Profile to track your match history, but if you’re wondering about the rank distribution in Overwatch 2 Season 8, here’s all you need to know including the most common rank in OW2.

There’s no denying that Overwatch 2 is one of the biggest FPS titles in 2024, contrary to popular belief that the game is dying. Season 8 is approaching its final few weeks, and millions of players are looking forward to what’s to come with the launch of Season 9, especially with the controversial self-heal feature being introduced in the next season.

However, the core gameplay will remain the same, and you’ll be able to choose any Hero from the three roles, Damage, Tank, or Support. Your rank progress will depend entirely on your performance and how much of an impact you can create to secure the victory for your team.

That said, if you’re wondering whether you have a good enough rank or simply curious to know what the average rank is in Overwatch 2, we’ve got the stats for you.

How is rank based in Overwatch 2: Ranking system in OW2 explained

Each rank has five skill tiers.

Your rank in Overwatch 2 is unlocked after five wins or 15 losses or ties. Your rank is determined by your SR or Skill Rating, which works similarly to the system in the prequel.

During your preliminary matches, apart from the wins and losses, your performance has a significant role in determining your SR. Simply put, if you’re getting a lot of kills or providing a ton of support and yet you fail to earn the win, the game will consider your incredible performance while working out your rank or SR.

It’s also worth noting that your rating will be different for each role – DPS, Tank, and Support, in both Open and Role Queues.

Why is your Overwatch 2 rank so low?

If you’re coming over from FPS titles like Valorant and Counter-Strike 2, you might find it a challenge to rank up in Overwatch 2. This is largely due to the games being different types of shooters. While OW2 is like an arena shooter, Valorant and CS2 aren’t as chaotic as the former and require a degree of stealth to play effectively.

To quickly improve your rank, you can master a few Heroes for each role and focus more on being the best teammate possible rather than just your performance.

Finally, you should also use aim training codes to practice in Overwatch 2 for you need to track both horizontally and vertically, as opposed to holding angles and pre-aiming in most major FPS titles.

What is the easiest role to rank up in Overwatch 2?

While no role is easy in Overwatch 2, we recommend playing Tanks like Reinhardt and Sigma to provide cover for your team. With Overwatch 2 being a 5v5 shooter, unlike the prequel’s 6v6 team comps, there’s only one Tank in every team, and more often than not, you’ll get most of the heals from your Supports.

If you’re a good tank, you can not only provide shields or cover for your team but also be a frontline presence, which is usually absent in lower-rank games.

All in all, Overwatch 2 is a team game, and your odds of securing the win will go up with proper communication and positioning.
