Gaming is the latest Genshin Impact 4-star character from Liyue, and if you’re wondering how to build him, here are the best artifacts, weapons, and team composition for Gaming, as well as how to play him.

Genshin Impact version 4.4 will see two new additions to its ever-increasing roster, Gaming and Xianyun. Even before the official announcement, both of them were highly anticipated, as Xianyun is the human form of the beloved Cloud Retainer, and Gaming is rooted deeply in culture as he resembles the Chinese tradition of Lion Dance

For Gaming, he is a 4-star DPS, which is fairly uncommon in Genshin Impact, and we already have one strong 4-star DPS from Liyue in Xiangling. This means Gaming might need some extra attention to build him to his best, and you can’t just slap artifacts and still make him functional.

All that said, here is the build guide for Gaming in Genshin Impact.

How to play Gaming in Genshin Impact

Gaming is a 4-star Pyro plunging DPS in Genshin Impact. However, he can only plunge with his Elemental Skill

He lunges forward in the air with his Elemental Skill which allows him to perform plunging attacks that have higher DMG than his regular ones. As usual, his Skill will have a cooldown, and that is mitigated by his Elemental Burst.

During his Elemental Burst, he summons Man Chai. Man Chai strolls around, deals damage, and returns to Gaming, and when he returns, Gaming’s Elemental Skill cooldown will reset, allowing him to plunge again.

There is one more catch, Man Chai will only stroll around once and will return for another stroll only if Gaming’s HP is more than 50% and he performs his Elemental Skill plunge again

Keeping all that in mind, Gaming’s playstyle is performing his Burst, maintaining more than 50% HP, and continuing to deal plunging attacks. One final thing—Gaming is best when he is C6, while at lower Constellation he remains a decent DPS, you’re better off playing other characters in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Gaming abilities explained

Normal Attack

In his Normal Attack, Gaming performs all the standard attacks you’d expect from any other character in Genshin Impact. There isn’t anything noteworthy about his Normal Attack ability.

Elemental Skill

In his Elemental Skill, Gaming pounces forward and leaps into the air, allowing him to deal a plunging attack. Gaming’s plunging attack here is not tied to his normal attack and has a separate multiplier that is part of his Elemental Skill.

Considering that, your talent level-up priority should be on his Elemental Skill first and foremost, as it remains the most important part of his kit.

Elemental Burst

In his Elemental Bursts, Gaming hurls forward Man Chai, and while the damage Man Chai deals is a bonus, the important part here remains, as said earlier, to make sure that Man Chai returns again, for which you’ll need to maintain over 50% HP.

Gaming’s Elemental Burst heals too, but that is fixed regardless of its level, so you don’t need to hurry in leveling up the Elemental Burst. Still, your second talent level-up priority should be Elemental Burst.

Genshin Impact Gaming best weapons

Serpent Spine

Gaming has maximum damage potential with R5 Serpent Spine.

Serpent Spine is the best weapon for Gaming in Genshin Impact, at a refinement level of R5. Serpent Spine has a main stat of CRIT Rate, which is useful for a DPS like Gaming, and its passive provides a DMG bonus the longer you stay on-field. Since Gaming is an on-field DPS, all the stats in Serpent Spine are useful.

Unfortunately, the only way to get Serpent Spine is if you buy a battle pass, and for five Serpent Spines, you’ll have to buy five battle passes. That’s going to cost you $50. At R1, Serpent Spine is still one of the best options.

Mailed Flower

A touch below R5 Serpent Spine is the Mailed Flower and is also better than R1 Serpent Spine. It provides EM as a main stat, and since Gaming also vapes as a Pyro DPS in most of his teams, it remains one of the better options. Mailed Flower’s passive grants both ATK and EM, which are just perfect for Gaming.

One of the best (or worst) things about Mailed Flower is that if you have one copy, you’ll probably have a total of five copies lying around and can do R5. As it is an event-exclusive weapon that was handed out for playing Windblume’s Breath, it is likely to never come back.

Other good weapon options for Gaming are Wolf Gravestone and Tidal Shadow (4-star craftable).

Genshin Impact Gaming best artifact

Before we get into the specifics of the best artifacts for Gaming, it is best to keep some neat tidbits in mind. These are just the stats to maintain across the board or the ones you should be prioritizing.

  • Ideally, use ATK Sands, Pyro DMG Goblet, and CRIT Circlet (whichever is less DMG or Rate).
  • Gaming is a more “traditional” DPS with no major stat quirks, so his preferred stats would be CRIT and ATK
  • Since his plunging attack consistency is tied to his Elemental Burst, you’ll need to focus a bit on Energy Recharge as well, and stack it until you can get his Burst off-cooldown.
  • EM is also good on Gaming.

So, keeping all that in mind, here are the best artifact sets for Gaming in Genshin Impact.

4pc Marechaussee Hunter

For every team that has Furina, Marechaussee Hunter is a good choice for the DPS character.
  • 2-Piece Bonus: Increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 15%.
  • 4-Piece Bonus: When current HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5s. Max 3 stacks.

While not the best artifact in all situations, Marechaussee Hunter remains one of the best artifacts for Gaming, because a 4pc will have you spare all the worries of CRIT Rate, as Gaming constantly loses and gains HP in his best team.

Although it is never a recommendation, you can C6 your Bennett, and it’ll yield the best result for Gaming when he is using Marechaussee Hunter.

4pc Crimson Witch of Flames

  • 2-Piece Bonus: Increase Pyro DMG Bonus by +15%
  • 4-Piece Bonus: 40% increase in DMG for Burning, Burgeon, Overload; 15% for Vaporise and Melt DMG. The 2-Piece Bonus is increased by 50% after using Elemental Skill, max 3 stacks and for 10s.

Another one of the better artifacts for Gaming in Genshin Impact is Crimson Witch of Flames, which has always been universally good on all Pyro DPS units. The 2pc is a straight DMG increase, and the 4pc works perfectly with most of his team.

Other artifact options are Vermillion Hereafter or pairing any 2pc ATK providing set with 2pc Crimson Witch.

Genshin Impact Gaming best team and rotations

The best team for Gaming in Genshin Impact is Gaming, Bennett, Xianyun, and Furina.

Xianyun will enable Gaming to perform plunging attacks continuously, and Furina is currently pretty much the staple for most DPS characters in the game. For Bennett, a C6 will give your Gaming a boost, but unless you’re going to main Gaming and are a huge fan, we don’t recommend you do a C6 for Benny.

So, here are all the best teams for Gaming in Genshin Impact, as well as the ideal rotation for the best team.

  • Best team: Gaming — Furina — Bennett — Xianyun
    • Rotation:
      • Furina Elemental Skill
      • Furina Elemental Burst
      • Bennett Elemental Burst
      • Bennett Elemental Skill
      • Xianyun Normal Attack
      • Xianyun Elemental Skill
      • Xianyun Elemental Burst
      • Gaming Elemental Burst
      • Gaming Elemental Skill
    • The only thing to be mindful of in the rotation here is that you need to make sure you properly Swirl Pyro and run 4pc Viridescent Venerer on Xianyun.

Other teams:

  • Gaming — Furina — Bennett — Kazuha
    • Yelan or Xingqiu or Furina
  • Gaming — Furina — Bennett — Rosaria
