Genshin Impact Xianyun: Release date, abilities, constellation, more

Version 4.4 is said to introduce a new 5-star playable character from Liyue, Xianyun. Much about her kit has been outlined, both officially and unofficially through leaks, so here’s everything about Xianyun in Genshin Impact.

For version 4.4 of Genshin Impact, we’re heading back to Liyue as the time calls for the annual Lantern Rite festival. Like the previous year, the version is going to be Liyue-heavy, and we’re getting another playable character from the region—Xianyun.  

Xianyun is the human form of the region’s well-known mythical figure, the Cloud Retainer. She is lofty in both her demeanor and playstyle, as she can buff and perform plunging attacks herself. We got an extended official look during the Special Program livestream for version 4.4, so here’s everything about Xianyun in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Xianyun release date

Xianyun will be released in phase 1 of version 4.4 of Genshin Impact on January 31 alongside the banner Nahida, and Gaming as one of the 4-star rate-ups.

Xianyun is confirmed to be an Anemo character in Genshin Impact, and she’ll wield a Catalyst. The version 4.4 livestream also revealed a brand-new limited-banner 5-star weapon, Crane’s Echoing Call.

Crane’s Echoing Call is Xianyun’s signature weapon, and it has a whopping 741 ATK stats on level 90, and the passive provides a Plunging Attacks DMG bonus to all party members.

We have had plenty of Xinayun gameplay leaks, but we got official looks and dev insight on her kit and gameplay in the recent Special Program livestream (jump to 9:00 for the reveal).

While the dev insight shared much about Xianyun’s kit in Genshin Impact, specific details like the number and constellation remain murky. However, with the beta for the version concluded, we do have a very good idea about all the unknown parts of her kit, thanks to leaks. 

All that said, here are all the details about Xianyun’s kit, from both official and unofficial information. 

Xianyun’s abilities

• Normal Attack: Similar to other Catalyst users, a standard four attacks dealing Anemo DMG. 
• Charged Attack: Hurls forward a breeze bolt in a straight line that deals Anemo DMG and consumes stamina. 
• Plunging Attack: A regular plunge attack. 
• Elemental Skill: Leaps in the air leaving a trail behind that does damage. After her leap, which can be done thrice, if you perform a plunging attack, Xianyun will do a unique attack that deals AoE Anemo DMG taking the form of a Crane. The more times you leap, the higher the DMG plunges do. 
  • Stats (level 10):
    • Trail DMG: 44.64%
    • First leap DMG: 208.8%
    • Second leap DMG: 266.4%
    • Third leap DMG: 607.7%
    • CD: 12s
• Elemental Burst: Brings forth a breeze that does AoE DMG and heals nearby party members based on Xianyun’s ATK. Xianyun will summon a Starwicker that grants her 8 stacks of Adeptal Assistance. During the Burst, active characters will get an increase in jumping height allowing them to plunge. After each time the character plunges with the buff, 1 Adeptal Assistance will be consumed. 
  • Stats (level 10):
    • Skill DMG: 194.4% 
    • Starwicker DMG: 70.6% 
    • Healing: 165.9% ATK+1271 
    • Continuous Healing: 77.4% ATK+593 
    • Duration: 16s 
    • CD: 18s 
    • Energy Cost: 70
• Passives:
  • Whenever Xianyun hits her Elemental Skill on opponents, she’ll grant Plunging ATK Crit Rate to all nearby party members based on the number of enemies hit. On 1/2/3/4 enemies hit, she’ll grant 4%/6%/8%/10% CRIT Rate.
  • While under Adeptal Assistance, active characters will get their plunging attack shockwave DMG increased by 180% of Xianyun’s ATK. Bonus DMG provided by the buff is capped at 9,000. 
  • Increases the gliding SPD of party members by 15%. 

Xianyun’s Constellations

• C1: Adds one additional charge to Elemental Skill, allowing Xianyun to leap one more time. 
• C2: After using Elemental Skill, Xianyun’s ATK will be increased by 20% for 15s. Additionally, increase the attack shockwave DMG bonus provided by her passive to 360% of Xinayun’s ATK, now capped at 18,000. 
• C3: Increase Elemental Burst level by 3. 
• C4: After leaping in air with Elemental Burst, whenever the trail left behind hits an opponent, it’ll heal party members based on the number of leaps Xianyun took. On 1/2/3 leap, heal members by 50/80/150% of her ATK.
• C5: Increase Elemental Skill level by 3. 
• C6:  Increase CRIT DMG of Elemental Skill by 15%/35%/70% based on the number of leaps Xianyun took through her Elemental Skill. Xianyun’s Elemental Skill will not enter into cooldown for 16s after she uses her Elemental Burst.

Keep in mind, that all the specifics of her kit can change as there is a fair bit of time left for her release.
