11 Bit Studios have finally set a date for the release of Frostpunk 2, the sequel to their classic survival city builder that got nominated for two BAFTA Awards.

Frostpunk 2 release date & platforms
Frostpunk 2 will be released on July 25, 2024, and available on PC (Steam, Game Pass, Epic Games Store, GOG), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
11 Bit Studios originally announced Frostpunk 2 in 2021, but they confirmed its release date during the Xbox Partner Preview 2024.
Frostpunk 2 gameplay
Frostpunk 2 invites players to take the role of the Steward, where they’ll need to manage the grizzly city of New London and make it survive another post-apocalyptic winter. As its prequel, Frostpunk 2 is a blend of survival and city manager simulator, where users will have to sort their resources to help their population survive.
This new edition also challenges players to build out entire districts and to focus beyond survival to balance an ever-expanding metropolis. Users have to learn how to handle interactions with a council, where citizens vote on laws and factions will push their own interests.
Players will get various game modes to experiment with, and along with the main story campaign, 11 Bit Studios added the sandbox mode called “Utopia Builder,” where users can choose the starting factions and community to organize their city.
Frostpunk 2 story
Frostpunk 2 is set in New London 30 years after the “Great Storm” of the first game. The Earth is still overwhelmed by an unforgiving ice age, where players take the role of the Steward to guide society through its never-ending expansion
But after the worst has passed, people realize that there is a whole world ready to be conquered, which could mean the solution to the ever-lasting struggles of supply scarcity.
As the city expands in productive districts (which are focused on providing food, energy, or shelter), the “Stewards” will have to meet with different factions and negotiate a balance between conflicting ideals.
Frostpunk 2 trailers
11 Bit Studios released Frostpunk 2 first announcement trailer on August 12, 2021, and revealed the new Utopia mode and new features:
The devs released the Frostpunk 2 teaser trailer on November 30, 2023, where Game Directors Jakub Stokalski and Lukasz Juszczyk presented the first images of the new gameplay.
Almost three years later, 11 Bit Studios released Frostpunk 2 official gameplay trailer on January 16, 2024.
On March 6, 2024, 11 Bit Studios revealed Frostpunk 2’s official release date.
On April 15, 2024, the devs released a deep dive into Frostpunk 2 gameplay, where they explained the role of the Steward and the mechanics of factions.
