Diablo 4 multiplayer mostly revolves around grinding dungeons and taking on World Bosses with other players, but the Bloodmark status effect can change the way how you interact with others. Here’s how to get Bloodmarked in Diablo 4 and its effects on the gameplay.

Diablo 4 was one of the best-selling games in 2023 and even though Season 1 didn’t live up to the expectations of many, the title seems to be in a much better place with Season of Blood. New mechanics like Blood Harvest and Vampiric Powers have captivated players and even the loot feels more diversified.

Although seasons bring a ton of new things to the table, several aspects of Diablo 4 remain unchanged in the seasonal realm, including mounts, waypoints, and the way you can interact with other players in PvP zones.

If you’re yet to take on other players in Fields of Hatred, here’s everything about getting Bloodmarked in Diablo 4.

What is Bloodmarked in Diablo 4?

Bloodmarked in Diablo 4 is a status effect that allows you to attack other players in the PvP zones called Fields of Hatred. However, Bloodmarked players can be attacked by others in Fields of Hatred as well, making it a high-risk high-reward mechanic.

Engaging in PvP combat gets you Seeds of Hatred which can be turned into Red Dust and you can use the latter to purchase items from the vendors in PvP zones.

How to be Bloodmarked in Diablo 4

Follow these steps to get Bloodmarked in Diablo 4:

  1. Enter a PvP Zone in Diablo 4 like the Fields of Hatred in Kehjistan or Dry Steppes.
  2. Press E on your keyboard or up on the D-pad of your controller to bring up the emote wheel.
  3. Go to the customize menu.
  4. Select the Mark for Blood emote.

You’ll now be Bloodmarked in Diablo 4!

How to remove a Bloodmark in Diablo 4

You can remove a Bloodmark in Diablo 4 by heading to the towns adjacent to the Fields of Hatred and interacting with the Altar of Cleansing statue there. These differ from the Altar of Extraction located in the Fields of Hatred where you purify Seeds of Hatred.

Do note that this won’t work if you’ve become the Hatred’s Chosen which is a status given to the player with the most kills in the PvP zones.

The Hatred’s Chosen title marks your position to other players and surviving long enough is the only way to get rid of it without losing your Seeds of Hatred.

Well, this was everything to know about being Bloodmarked in Diablo 4. For more content on the game, check out:
