Despite Diablo 4 Season 5 releasing in August and Vessel of Hatred releasing later this year, the game has seen a dip in player count since last month.

Season 4 saw better success compared to previous seasons, but despite the good response from players, the amount of them online and playing has fluctuated.

Here are the current active players, 24-hour peak, and all-time peak player count for Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 daily & monthly player count

Diablo 4 has 4,239 players online at the time of writing, as well as a 24-hour peak of 5,041 and an all-time peak on Steam of 28,836, according to SteamDB.

The game has averaged 4.075 million players during the last 30 days, according to Activeplayer.io. In the absence of official player numbers by Blizzard, third-party sources only provide an approximate value. These numbers also don’t include console, which means it could be much higher than currently estimated.

Diablo averages thousands of players every day according to SteamDB.

The PTR that Blizzard has conducted for two seasons now is the prime reason why the Diablo 4 player count is seeing an increase.

Players get to try out what changes the developers intend to bring in the new season before it gets added to the game and provide feedback on it. Blizzard can then take this community feedback and make adjustments accordingly.

Not only does the PTR give players a fair idea of what to expect in the new season, but it also gives the developers time to roll back or modify any drastic changes before they’re made live on the main game.

Peak player count

Diablo 4 peaked at 6,750,114 players on June 30, 2023, according to Activeplayer.io, and on average, it maintains over 1 million players every day.

While the player count in Diablo 4 Season 4 grew considerably, Season 5 could see an increase in the number of players because the developers will be introducing a brand new questline, including a new roguelike activity known as the Infernal Hordes.
