The Seasonal Realm in Diablo 4 is where your Seasonal characters exist. So what are these Seasonal characters, and can they be accessed in the Eternal Realm?

In Diablo 4, you will come across two realms, namely the Eternal Realm and the Seasonal Realm. The Seasonal Realm is where you get to experience all the seasonal content.

With every new season in Diablo 4, you need to create a character for that season, and once it ends, the character will be transferred to the Eternal Realm.

So here’s everything that you need to know about Seasonal characters in Diablo 4.

What are Seasonal characters in Diablo 4?

Seasonal characters in Diablo 4 are the new characters you’ll need to create from scratch to play every new Diablo 4 Season. However, this doesn’t mean that all the progress made in the previous seasons has been lost, as some aspects will be carried over to the new Wanderers.

Seasonal Characters are only available for the season they’re created. Once a season is finished in Diablo 4, they get moved to the Eternal Realm with the rest of the Wanderers you’ve played. Remember that your new character won’t be related to the one you’ve played before, so you could experiment with new classes, builds, and abilities.

Diablo 4: Eternal Realm & Seasonal Realm explained

The Eternal Realm and Seasonal Realm are two different universes where Diablo 4 stores your beloved characters. When a new Diablo 4 season begins, every pre-season character is transferred to the Eternal Realm.

Don’t worry, this only means that your character will now exist in a storyline of their own in Sanctuary’s universe. The Eternal Realm stores every Wanderer created in the base game and will also welcome every Seasonal character once their season has ended.

Diablo 4 Character Selection
When each season finishes, each character is transferred to the Eternal Realm in Diablo 4.

Players who want to play Season 3 in Diablo 4 need to make a new character in the Seasonal Realm. This universe offers all the new dynamics and storylines introduced in the new season, plus the default gameplay experience.

To have access to the Eternal or Seasonal Realm, you do not need to purchase a Battle Pass or any add-ons, you only need to have completed the main campaign at least once.

What carries over to Seasonal characters in Diablo 4?

If Wanderers have already finished the main campaign, they can skip it when starting a new character in Diablo 4 Season 3.

Some mechanics that were unlocked during the main storyline will be carried over throughout Seasons, such as previously discovered Altars of Lilith, as well as discovered areas of the map and their corresponding Renown.

Since all priority and side quests unlocked are still completed when they log in with their Seasonal Character, mounts are also available immediately.

Diablo 4 Season 3 has introduced new dynamics on which aspects of the game will carry through the realms. This is everything that will be carried over into a new Season once achieved with an Eternal or previous Seasonal Realm character:

  • Renown rewards
  • Paragon Points
  • Skill Points
  • Potion Charges
  • Obol capacity upgrades

Every item added during seasons will also transfer back to the player’s permanent Stash once the season has finished.

How to transfer progress & items in Diablo 4 Season 3

To transfer your progress to your Seasonal character in Diablo 4, all you need to do is log in with the Eternal character that you’ve progressed the most with, before creating a new character in the Seasonal Realm.

If you fail do do that, then you will have to explore the map once again to discover all the locations and find out all Altars of Lilith.
