Modern Warfare 3 developers Sledgehammer Games held a Q&A on Reddit where they answered questions from players. However, fans were left frustrated after feeling the devs were “ignoring” questions on the controversial skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) feature.

Modern Warfare 3‘s multiplayer has been fairly well-received by the community, as players have praised the returning maps from MW2 (2009), changes to the TTK, and the overhauled movement. That being said, there have still been a handful of issues that players have raised, such as packet burst problems.

One of the biggest complaints has been the controversial SBMM system, which creates matches with players of a similar skill level. Many feel that this feature punishes you for performing well and could ultimately “kill” the game in the long term.

Activision have never officially confirmed the existence of SBMM in the CoD series, and fans hoped they might finally get an answer when Sledgehammer Games held a Reddit Q&A for MW3 on November 20. However, they were left frustrated as the devs failed to address the many questions posted about it.

During the Q&A session, Sledgehammer devs responded to many questions asked by players, confirming a nerf to the Gaia skin and a test of non-disbanding lobbies. But despite the thread being flooded with comments about SBMM, they never addressed the feature.

Fans quickly took to social media to call out the lack of answers, with many slamming the devs for not responding to a topic that the community is clearly passionate about.

Responding to a CharlieIntel X post, ‘SirHome’ said: “It’s so ridiculous and they are not even addressing it. I legit thought about deleting MW3 today at least until season 1 drops,” before another fan added: “They don’t want to address it because it’ll show that they failed.”

Other players pointed out that Activision may have prevented Sledgehammer from mentioning SBMM, but still felt that it would be better for the teams to address the issue instead of staying silent.

Understand they may not be able to but — even acknowledgment such as ‘we can’t comment on that’ is better than ignoring it,” said ‘J2X.’ “Sends a totally different message to the community.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Sledgehammer Games or Activision respond to the skill-based matchmaking complaints in Modern Warfare 3. While both have been quite on the feature so far, the calls for changes are only likely to grow stronger over the course of the year.
