Modern Warfare 3 features the return of the popular War mode from Call of Duty WWII. This unique mode saw teams getting a chance to defend and attack in a bid to destroy or save objectives.

War mode sees players acting out war scenarios such as pushing a tank through a street to an objective or planting explosives in a designated area. With a quick respawn system, the War mode is perfect for objective-based multiplayer matches.

What is War mode in Modern Warfare 3?

War is a game mode taken from Call of Duty: WWII that’s now in MW3, and it sees two teams going head to head to attack and defend a variety of objectives. As in WWII, there are multiple missions to get through or prevent in a match of War.

Objectives are inspired by war-like situations, and winning is completely reliant on your team completing the objectives. It is recommended that you don’t focus entirely on kills, as having a good K/D ratio won’t ensure victory.

Activision and Sledgehammer Games brought back the fan-favorite mode in Modern Warfare 3, and here’s the developer’s official description:

“War mode is back! In this classic mode that was originally featured in Call of Duty: WWII (2017), players enter a vast, purpose-built landscape, with the focus on competing in linear engagements and progressing the battle through a series of objectives. Secure capture points, escort an armed tank, and launch an ICBM — this is War.”
