With the first weekend of the beta concluded, players have had the opportunity to see and play Modern Warfare 3 and didn’t hesitate to criticize the “bland visuals” of the game, comparing them to MW 2019.

Modern Warfare 3 beta‘s PlayStation-exclusive weekend has concluded, giving players their first opportunity to experience the game’s multiplayer mode. This included the introduction of new weaponry, the return of slide cancel and other beloved features, as well as the reintroduction of classic MW2 2009 maps, among other additions.

However, many have noted that the visual quality of the title compared to its original predecessor, MW 2019, is considerably worse, pointing out “bland visuals” which even make it difficult to enjoy and see the game correctly.

MW3 players called on for “washed out” graphics improvement

In a Reddit post, user dwartbg7 posted a side-by-side comparison of MW 2019 and MW3’s graphics, and players swiftly called on the developers to make improvements to the graphics in order to address the issue of the current “washed out” appearance.

The video shows the visual differences between the 2019 version of the Rust map and SHG’s 2023 rendition for MW3. While both maps have undergone significant improvements since its 2009 iteration, many players have expressed that the most recent version appears somewhat “flat.”

“MW3 could use some more contrast for sure,” expressed a user in response to the post. Another player added, “The lightning in MWIII is flat. The are zero highlights and all the shadows are boosted so much everything ends up looking muted.”

Yet another player remarked, “Sledgehammer needs to adjust these colors. Get rid of this ‘grey’ and the washed-out palette. Let’s make it VIBRANT and COLORFUL!” A player chimed in, “This really shows another issue with MW3’s visibility, besides just lack of nameplates. It’s more dull and washed out making visibility even worse.”

While SHG have announced significant improvements, including enhanced enemy visibility for the upcoming beta’s second weekend, overall graphics enhancements could potentially be coming to the final version of the game as well, although it still remains uncertain.
