Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer beta: Dates, how to play, platforms, more

The multiplayer beta for Modern Warfare 3 will provide players with a sneak peek of the upcoming Call of Duty installment ahead of its full release. Here are the official start dates for the MW3 beta on every platform as well as how to play.
The hype surrounding Modern Warfare 3 has rapidly increased after the game’s official unveiling and the first in-depth look at a campaign mission during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event.
The event not only gave players a glimpse of the MW3 campaign but also provided a wealth of new information. This included the dates for the upcoming Call of Duty Next event and the official dates for the Modern Warfare 3 beta.
Here’s how to play the Modern Warfare 3 beta, alongside the start dates for each platform.
Modern Warfare 3 beta release date
PlayStation players will have exclusive first access to the Modern Warfare 3 beta. Following this period of early access for PlayStation players, the Modern Warfare 3 beta will be available to players on all platforms
Here’s a breakdown of the MW3 beta schedule, including the start and end dates:
- October 6-7: MW3 beta PlayStation early access
- October 8-10: MW3 PlayStation open beta
- October 12-13: MW3 beta Xbox & PC early access + PlayStation open beta
- October 14-16: MW3 open beta on all platforms
The beta periods will start and end at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM UK for the corresponding dates listed above. The Modern Warfare 3 beta will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.

How to play Modern Warfare 3 beta
Modern Warfare 3’s betas will run from October 6-10 and October 12-16 with PlayStation players getting exclusive first access. However, if you have a beta code, you’ll be able to jump into the MW3 beta early.
If you’re unsure whether you require an online subscription service to access the beta, here’s a straightforward guide to help you out:
- PlayStation: PlayStation Plus is not required to play.
- Xbox: Xbox Game Pass Core is required for the Xbox early access period only (not required for Xbox open beta period).
- PC: Requires a Battle Net or Steam account.
To ensure your early access to the MW3 beta, the recommended way to receive an early access MW3 code is by pre-ordering the game. If you opt for a digital copy of MW3, PlayStation and Xbox players will automatically be registered for the beta. Those who prefer a physical copy will receive a redeem code for the MW3 beta.
Additionally, on September 7 the Call of Duty Esports X (formerly Twitter) account revealed that players will also have the opportunity to earn MW3 beta access codes while watching the World Series of Warzone Global Final.

To be eligible for one of the 50,000 codes available, players will have to watch the WSOW stream for a minimum of 60 minutes on YouTube or Twitch once it goes live on September 16.
MW3 beta codes will be delivered randomly drops throughout the stream, and if you win one, an early access beta code will be sent to your associated Activision account email.
