JGOD explains why MW3 players should swap slide canceling for “broken” Tac-Stance

Modern Warfare 3 brings plenty of new additions to multiplayer, including the Tac-Stance feature. After testing it out in the MW3 beta, CoD guru JGOD thinks players might be neglecting a useful tool in gunfights.

Modern Warfare 3 players have been getting their first hands-on time with the game during the beta. This trial period lets them relearn the classic maps from 2009 and get to grips with new weapons like BAS-B and Rival-9.

There are also plenty of new features to try out, including the new Gear-based Perk system. But one addition that many fans have already disregarded is Tac-Stance, with some even labeling it a “gimmick.”

However, after experimenting with it during the MW3 beta, CoD expert JGOD thinks Tac-Stance could be “broken” and explained why the community could be sleeping on it.

When Tac-Stance was first announced, it was described by Activision as a “perfect middle ground between hip-firing and aiming down sights,” offering greater accuracy without sacrificing movement speed.

In his October 10 video, JGOD felt that players are missing out on the benefits of the feature because they’re too reliant on slide canceling, even though Tac-Stance lets them fire mid-slide. “Slide canceling doesn’t reset your tactical sprint, so there isn’t much reason to do it,” he explained.

He went on to say that switching to MW3‘s Tac-Stance during a slide might be more effective than slide canceling when challenging corners, as you can fire much quicker than canceling the animation and returning to a regular stance.

This, paired with the tighter spread that makes shots far more accurate than hipfiring, while maintaining plenty of mobility, makes Tac-Stance an incredibly useful feature according to JGOD, if the community are willing to adapt to it.

“They added this new feature, and a lot of people don’t realize how good and how broken it is,” he continued. “I think there are still some issues with it that need tuning, but I would say once it gets finalized, it will be one of those movements that’s crazy.”

As Modern Warfare 3 players experiment more with Tac-Stance both in the beta and the full release, we’ll have to wait and see how it impacts the meta. In the meantime, check out our list of the best Assault Rifles in MW3 and everything you need to know about skill-based matchmaking.
