Call of Duty players on all platforms have now had the chance to test out Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer first-hand, enjoying a selection of classic MW2 maps, weapons, returning gameplay features, and new modes.

Modern Warfare 3 officially arrives on November 10 and, aside from the Campaign Early Access, the beta will be the last chance to play until then. Here’s everything you need to know about Modern Warfare 3’s beta including when it ends, the platforms, file size, maps, and more.

When does the Modern Warfare 3 beta end? Date & time

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s beta ends on Monday, October 16, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM UK.

Here’s a breakdown of the MW3 beta schedule, including the start and end dates:

  • October 6-7: MW3 beta PlayStation early access
  • October 8-10: MW3 PlayStation open beta
  • October 12-13: MW3 beta Xbox & PC early access + PlayStation open beta
  • October 14-16: MW3 open beta on all platforms
All platforms will get the chance to play the Beta for free starting October 14.

How to play Modern Warfare 3 beta

To play Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer beta, you’ll need to install Call of Duty HQ and the two beta packs.

The CoD HQ is the launcher for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, so if you have either of those games, then you’ll be good to go. If you don’t have it installed, you’ll need to download the free-to-play Warzone file.

Modern Warfare 3’s open beta is available to everyone but if you have a beta code, you would have been able to play first during the Early Access period.

If you’re unsure whether you require an online subscription service to access the beta, here’s a straightforward guide to help you out:

  • PlayStation: PlayStation Plus is not required to play
  • Xbox: Xbox Game Pass Core is required for the Xbox early access period only (not required for Xbox open beta period)
  • PC: Requires a Battle.net or Steam account

Modern Warfare 3’s beta is around 24GB download on all platforms but bear in mind, you also need Call of Duty HQ installed which is around 100GB. So, if you don’t have Warzone downloaded already, you could need as much as 125GB of free space on your hard drive.
