The huge HRM-9 caught a nerf in the Warzone Season 3 Reloaded update left many players wondering what to replace it with, and this slept-on SMG with an unbelievable TTK is the prime candidate to step up.

The Warzone Season 3 Reloaded patch shook up the meta in a number of interesting ways, buffing the likes of the DG-58 LSW into arguably the best long-range gun in the game. It also had a major impact in the SMG category, thanks to a major nerf to the HRM-9 that had dominated close-range fights for weeks.

This left many looking for a new option to partner their LMGs or Sniper Rifles, and the Striker is the perfect replacement. While the HRM and other popular choices were nerfed in the mid-season update, the SMG based on the iconic UMP45 was handed a healthy buff.

It saw massive improvements to its minimum damage range, meaning it’s at its most effective up to a staggering 28 meters, far beyond many of the other guns in its class. This was alongside a buff to its medium damage range, which lets it compete even when enemies are that little bit further away.

Warzone expert WhosImmortal is also a huge fan of the Striker in Warzone, as he included it in his video counting down the fastest-killing guns in the game. He mentioned that the SMG has 744ms TTK at 28 meters, which is “phenomenal” compared to its rivals.

Throw in the fact that it’s also incredibly easy to use with virtually no recoil and a solid fire rate, and you’re left with one of the best guns in the game. After trying it out since the update, I found it was an absolute beast in those close-to-mid-range fights and a welcome throwback to the MW2 (2009) days.

Despite the impressive stats, the Striker has been mostly ignored in the second half of Season 3. Most players have instead gravitated toward the Striker 9, while the WSP-9 has also emerged as a favorite.

However, if you’re looking for a new SMG to replace the HRM-9 and serve as either Sniper support or complement your long-range Assault Rifle, the Striker ticks every box to become a meta choice.
