Magma is a brand-new camo in Modern Warfare 3 and players can earn it and apply it to all of their weapons. Here’s how to unlock Magma camo in MW3.

Modern Warfare 3 is packed full of camos for players to work for in both multiplayer and Zombies. The Mastery camo grind will keep the community busy for most of the year, as they try to earn Interstellar and Bioluminescent for all of their guns.

The devs have also been releasing more camos regularly since launch, which can be earned through weekly challenges or in-game events. Now, the new animated Magma skin is up for grabs and it’s absolutely free to unlock.

Here’s how to get Magma camo in Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 3 players can get the Magma camo by completing the Vortex: War’s Domain XP event. The camo is the final reward out of 15, which is unlocked once a total of 1,233,700 XP has been earned across all multiplayer modes.

The event runs until January 17, 2024, after which the camo will no longer be available. Those looking to speed up the process can equip the War Horse skin, which is available as part of the Horseman War: Tracer Pack and grants 1,000 bonus XP at the end of every match.

This Zombies-themed event celebrates the release of Vortex mode in Modern Warfare 3, which places players into a free-for-all match where the main objective is to get hold of the iconic Ray-Gun and use it to rack up one-shot kills.

MW3 Magma camo not showing

Many MW3 players have reported that Magma camo isn’t appearing for them even after unlocking it, and the devs have confirmed that this is due to an issue with the event’s UI. In an X (formerly Twitter) post, they said: “XP targets displayed in the Vortex: War’s Domain Event UI are inaccurate. This means tiers may appear completed sooner than intended.”

The in-game menu says that 458,500 XP is required to unlock Magma camo, but the actual target is 1,233,700 XP. This means that the notification letting players know they’ve earned the skin is appearing too early.

So, although the challenge will be marked as complete, fans will need to keep grinding until they reach the real XP milestone, at which point the camo will appear. The devs are aware of the issue so don’t be surprised to see a fix released before the Vortex: War’s Domain event comes to an end.
