Buy Back is the new mode that has taken over Call of Duty: Warzone, replacing the regular battle royale modes. Here’s everything you need to know about Buy Back, including the rules, how to play, and how long it’ll be around for.

Battle royale games are known for the tension that revolves around only having one life; once you’re dead, you’re out of the game. Warzone advanced this format by adding the Gulag and allowing players to redeploy their teammates. But Warzone’s Buy Back mode shakes up the BR format even further, allowing for almost infinite respawns.

In an August 26 playlist update, Raven Software removed regular BR modes and added Buy Back Quads, Trios, Duos, and Solos.

We’re breaking down everything you need to know about this mode.

‘Buy Back’ has been around in Warzone for some time now, but usually only as a limited-time mode replacing just Solos, for example. But now, Buy Back has become the primary mode for Warzone following the August 26’s playlist update.

In Buy Back, the Gulag has been removed and players will be able to redeploy as long as they have $4500. After respawning, you’ll lose some cash so may need to collect more money by looting or taking on players to hit $4500 again.

Buy Back will be activated for the first 20 minutes of the game, and then when it expires, the rest of the match will play like regular battle royale.

  • Every player spawns with $4500
  • The Gulag has been removed
  • As long as you have $4500 in your inventory, you can keep redeploying
  • Once the Buy Back counter expires, the final circles of the game are played as normal

In general, Buy Back is more action-packed than BR, as pushing enemies becomes less risky when you can redeploy again almost immediately.

This time, Buy Back is the only battle royale mode available. You’ll be able to find it at the top of the ‘Play’ menu labeled as “Buy Back” and then you can choose the mode you want to play: Solos, Duos, Trios, or Quads.

  1. Launch Call of Duty: Warzone
  2. Click on ‘Buy Back’
  3. Select either BR Buy Back Solos, Duos, Trios, or Quads

When will Warzone’s regular battle royale modes return?

Although there has been a significant backlash, Raven Software hasn’t commented on regular battle royale’s removal. While some prefer the faster-paced action of Buy Back, many replies have expressed frustration with battle royale’s removal.

Raven Software makes playlist changes every Thursday, so the most likely time for BR modes to return is Thursday, September 2. However, Raven Software is known to amend these playlist updates early if necessary, so it could be earlier.

Stay tuned to Charlie INTEL for any update on when regular BR modes return to Warzone.
