Warzone 2 guru reveals “number one” SMG after major Lachmann Sub nerf

Call of Duty guru WhosImmortal has revealed his “number one” SMG choice for close-range in Warzone 2 after the major Lachmann Sub nerf in Season 5.

Warzone 2 Season 5 brought a ton of content for players to dig in, including new weapons like the FR Avancer and Carrack .300, a full roster of Operators, as well as long-requested movement changes, and a community event that will allow unlocking new free rewards.

In this update, significant changes were made to the game’s weapons. The most used guns from the previous season, such as the Cronen Squall, received major nerfs, while several other weapons, including the M13B, MX9, and BAS-P, among others, received notable buffs.

Among all weapon categories, SMGs have undergone the most significant changes. With the notable nerf to the Lachmann Sub, the ISO 45 has emerged once again as a strong contender in the close-range meta.

Despite the various buffs within the SMGs category, the creator highlights that some of them still struggle to move out of the “competitive” category because of their limitations. For instance, the MX9 suffers from a low ammunition capacity, while the Minibak has a poor average TTK.

With the Lachmann Sub’s damage drop-off severeness in Season 5, the fan-favorite ISO 45 has gained a huge amount of popularity and claimed its position in the close-range meta. According to WZRanked, the gun is the most popular SMG and the second most popular weapon throughout the game.

After its close battle to be the most used SMG in the game, the latest Season 5 nerf to the Lachmann Sub has finally dethroned it from its dominant position, making the ISO the “clear number one choice for SMGs” right now.
