Despite Season 5’s several weapon changes in Warzone 2, developers decided not to nerf the current meta Sniper Rifle after several requests from players, and shared an explanation on why.

Warzone 2 Season 5 introduced several weapon balancing changes that could significantly impact the meta. However, despite increasing player concerns, they decided not to nerf the current Sniper Rifle meta and provided an explanation for their choice.

The Signal 50 Sniper Rifle’s popularity has skyrocketed over the past few months, becoming almost essential for World Series of Warzone players participating in the $1.2m tournament.

Its growth in popularity during Season 4 led many players to expect a huge nerf for the Sniper could come with Warzone 2’s Season 5 update.

To the surprise of many, the Season 5 patch notes revealed that the Signal 50 hasn’t been nerfed. Instead, the developers themselves provided an explanation for their decision to refrain from making any changes to the gun.

Devs explain why they didn’t nerf the Signal 50 in Warzone 2 Season 5

In the latest patch notes, devs addressed concerns raised by players explaining why they didn’t nerf the Signal 50 in Warzone 2 Season 5.

They acknowledged that while their data indicates the Signal 50’s performance drops within the normal range, they understand the “impact it has on the player experience is crucial.”

Despite player expectations, developers have expressed that, at the moment, they “do not feel it is necessary to make changes to the Signal 50.” However, they assured players that they will “monitor both data and feedback closely” in order to make informed decisions in the future.

Here’s the devs full statement regarding the Signal 50 nerf.

Lastly, we are aware of concerns surrounding the Signal 50 in Warzone. While our data does not suggest the Signal 50 is out of the normal range in performance, its experiential impact for Players is equally important to us. At this time we do not feel it is necessary to make changes to the Signal 50, but we will continue to monitor the data and your feedback closely.

This news might not be well-received, especially in Warzone Ranked modes where the Signal 50 is becoming increasingly dominant in the meta.
