Warzone 2 features plenty of exciting action and content, but do you need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to play the Call of Duty title? We’ve got the answer right here.

With Season 3 finally here, Warzone 2 players are jumping into the Call of Duty title to check out all of the new content that’s available, including the Black Cell Battle Pass and Imperium FJX Intervention Sniper Rifle.

Before you check out the action, you may be wondering if the game is free-to-play or if you need a PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live subscription. We’ll go over everything that you need to know.

Is Warzone 2 free-to-play?

Just like the original, Warzone 2.0 is completely free-to-play for all players and requires no money to play the game. It features an optional paid premium Battle Pass system in which players receive rewards throughout the season.

While players have the option to spend their money on cosmetics, they are not forced to purchase anything, and Warzone 2 is available to enjoy completely free of charge. You can also play it without purchasing Modern Warfare 2.

Do you need PS Plus or Xbox Live to play Warzone 2?

PS Plus and Xbox Live are subscription services that grant players free games.

Warzone 2 is available to play on PlayStation and Xbox consoles without a PS Plus and Xbox Live membership. Simply meaning that all players, regardless of online membership, are able to play and enjoy Warzone 2 online at no expense.

This makes sense considering those on PC do not have to purchase a membership to play, making it fair for all platforms. Activision understandably want as many players playing Warzone 2 as possible.

However, players with subscriptions to these services will be able to unlock exclusive rewards. For example, from April 19, PlayStation Plus members can get the Season 03 Combat Pack, which has a new Operator Skin for Oni.
