How to tune weapons in Warzone 2 Ranked Play: Devs offer workaround

Warzone 2’s Ranked Play mode is finally here and while weapon tuning is meant to be available, it can’t be done in the competitive mode. Luckily, the devs have offered a workaround to use the weapon tuning feature in Ranked Play, so here’s the details.

Warzone players have been calling for a Ranked Play mode ever since the game’s launch and it finally arrived with Warzone 2’s Season 3 Reloaded update. With a stricter ruleset and ranks to climb through, players will be grinding to reach the Irredescent and Top 250 rank.

You’ll need the best Ranked Play loadouts to do it, but players have noticed that you’re unable to use the tuning feature. Dev team Treyarch have confirmed that weapon tuning is enabled for the competitive mode but isn’t available in the menu, so here’s their workaround to tune weapons in Warzone 2 Ranked Play.

How to use weapon tuning in Warzone 2 Ranked Play

To tune weapons in Warzone 2‘s Ranked Play, you’ll need to build and tune your weapon in regular battle royale modes.

While weapon tuning isn’t available in Ranked Play, loadouts are shared between modes so you’ll simply have to build your weapons in a regular playlist, then they’ll be there waiting for you in the competitive mode.

So, while you can’t actually tune your weapon while in the Ranked Play menus, any weapon tuning you apply will carry over.

Treyarch, who are in charge of Warzone’s Ranked Play alongside Modern Warfare 2’s, confirmed that “Weapon Tuning from the menu will be enabled in a future update.”

When this future update will arrive remains to be seen, but expect a few smaller updates ahead of June’s Season 4 update. In the meantime, be sure to check out some of our other Warzone 2 guides:
