It’s no secret that Starfield released without some essential features and Bethesda have already revealed a roadmap for future updates. However, players on Reddit have “no hope” that these updates will fix the game’s core issues.

Despite being Bethesda’s most ambitious project to date, Starfield is lacking in some areas. The space RPG launched to critical acclaim as initial reviews of the game were wowed by its scope. But as the weeks went by and players delved further into the game, various problems began to emerge.

The most glaring of these issues concerned the absence of travel options while planetside and the complete lack of city maps, a feature that many older BGS titles had. The game was even missing an ‘eat’ button, which is essentially a hallmark of Bethesda titles.

The devs have addressed some of the major problems through various updates and provided a roadmap for future content releases. This includes new ways to travel, additional ship customization options, city maps, and more. Starfield will also receive official mod support in the coming months, which will be a significant step towards improving the game.

Despite all the upcoming content, players on Reddit aren’t optimistic about Starfield‘s future. A discussion around the topic broke out after a post from user ‘MysteriousVoid 25’ which looked to gauge the excitement on future updates.

Users expressed their lack of enthusiasm with one of them saying, “Frankly I have no hope whatsoever and have more or less already written of any DLC that may come” Another user stated, “I’d rather replay Fallout 4 again for the nth time than boot up Starfield. That’s sad.”

Some players also pointed towards the game’s core being flawed, “The game has an inherently flawed base and needs to be overhauled or else it will die”, while others questioned the quality of the upcoming updates, “I highly doubt this game will have any worthwhile updates. I hope I’m wrong, but I have no faith in Starfield’s development team.”

With Starfield’s biggest update set to drop soon, we’ll have to wait and see if it manages to inject some excitement into the community. According to early patch notes, the update will bring fixes to quests, stability adjustments, and more.
