Starfield has several missions, and the campaign ends with you saving a universe in the Entangled quest. There are two confusion options and here’s which universe you should save in Starfield and how to secretly save both of them.

From shipbuilding and planet exploration to quests and NPCs, Starfield has plenty of things to keep you engaged for hundreds of hours. This is not to say that the main campaign is not expansive enough, as it involves factions, Constellation, and several hard-hitting choices.

Although the choices made in main missions mostly lead to similar story developments, the final choice in the Entangled quest is decisive and can impact the ending you witness.

On that note, here are the consequences of all the choices you can make in the Starfield Entangled quest and which universe is worth saving.

There are Starfield story spoilers ahead.

Starfield: Entangled explained

Entangled takes place towards the end of Starfield’s main questline. In search of the final few artifacts players receive a distress call from a location named Research Station Nishima. After entering the research station, players will phase in and out of two universes, setting up a fascinating quest.

While one universe sees the research station operating as normal, the other displays the station in ruins due to an accident. The dilapidated version is infested by the scorpion-like Cataxi, with its only occupant being an engineer named Rafael. In comparison, the parallel reality saw all station members survive the accident except for Rafael.

Players decide the fate of Rafael in the Entangled quest in Starfield.

Players will have to navigate through and switch between both universes to get to the artifact stored in the lower levels of the facility. Near the end of the quest, they will also have to pick which universe to save.

Starfield: Which universe should you save in Entangled?

Out of the two choices offered in the Entangled quest in Starfield, it’s best to save the universe where the research station is intact. Not only does this save more lives, but players also earn better rewards for picking this option.

The rewards for saving the Nishina Research Station universe are:

  • Experimental Nishina Spacesuit
  • Experimental Nishina Helmet
  • 12,000+ credits

How to save both universes in Starfield Entangled quest

There is a secret method to save both universes in Starfield’s Entangled quest. Picking this route will take a bit of hard work, but it is certainly the best resolution to the quest.

Here’s how to save both universes in Entangled:

  1. Advance the quest until the objective is to activate seven switches in either universe.
  2. Kill all enemies in both universes, but only flip the switches in the ruined reality.
  3. Head to the Lab Control Computer in both universes and select the degaussing option.
  4. Flip all the numbered switches it displays.
  5. Set the Frequency Calibration to 40Hz for the ruined universe and 24Hz for the intact one.
  6. Activate the Primary Calibration Control.

The rewards for picking this route are largely the same apart from one major difference. After completing the quest, players will be able to recruit Rafael as a crew member. The engineer can be found in New Atlantis after a few in-game days.

That was the best universe to save in the Entangled quest in Starfield.
