The untold story of Pecharunt Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The new Pokemon added in the Mochi Mayhem Epilogue of the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC now has a confirmed backstory and Pokemon type. Here’s everything you need to know about Pecharunt, the new Poison/Ghost-type Pokemon.

Ever since the release of The Teal Mask DLC, players have spotted certain bits and clues that pointed to the existence of Pecharunt. After some data mining, the Pokemon was confirmed to be in the game, but The Indigo Disk DLC didn’t feature the mochi Pokemon.

A few weeks after the DLC second part’s release, the Mochi Mayhem Epilogue was confirmed, and it featured Pecharunt. Here, we learn about how he was hiding in Kitakami, as well as how he was controlling Kieran and his backstory with Ogerpon.

Now, The Pokemon Company have released a video featuring Pecharunt’s “untold” back story, as well as confirmation on if it’s a Legendary or a Mythical Pokemon.

Pecharunt’s story in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC explained

The Pokemon Company released a video showcasing Pecharunt’s past, as well as how it ended up with The Loyal Three and its troubled relationship with Ogerpon.

The video confirms Pecharunt isn’t from Kitakami, but from a “far away land,” where two mystery elders ask it to fetch the Sparkling Masks featured in The Teal Mask DLC. When playing the first part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, players can see Ogerpon’s side of the story.

Pecharunt uses The Loyal Three as its travel partners to fight Ogerpon and its human partner for the Masks, resulting in the theft of three of them. According to the video, it seems Ogerpon seamlessly fights for them, resulting in Pecharunt’s defeat.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet DLC: Is Pecharunt Legendary or Mythical Pokemon?

According to another video released by The Pokemon Company alongside Pecharunt’s “untold” back story, the Poison/Ghost-type Mochi Pokemon is a Mythical Pokemon.

Mythicals are often confused for Legendary Pokemon, and even with these having their own legends like Meloetta, their denominations are used to separate both of them. Legendary Pokemon are supposed to be rare finds in the wild, while Mythicals are unique and regularly attached to special events in-game.

Pecharunt can only be caught by completing the Mochi Mayhem Epilogue Quest, a last mission that completes the story of The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero DLC. If you want to know more about Pecharunt, The Loyal Three, or even more about Kitakami, be sure to check the above videos.
