Pokemon Go players slam “dumb” Ace Trainer Medal grind as rewards aren’t worth it
NianticThe Ace Trainer Medal in Pokemon Go has been called the “worst” by players, as they feel that the grind is too long and tedious and not worth the reward.
Becoming a top Pokemon Go trainer is no easy task, as you’ll have to catch countless Pokemon, battle Raids, participate in PvP and PvE battles, complete Research quests, and so much more.
Another popular grind is Medals, whose golden and platinum versions offer certain boosts or rewards to players. That said, not all of them are loved by the community, as players seem to be not too high on the Ace Trainer Medal.
This emerged after a Reddit user named ‘IronMarch’ shared a post where they called the Ace Trainer Medal “one of the worst grinds in any game,” as they have to train “1000 times just for a single outfit.”
Fellow Pokemon Go players agreed with the OP’s views on the Ace Trainer Medal, as many who have completed the grind promised that they would never change the outfit after the “torture.”
Even those who completed other Medals admitted that this one is more challenging. “I recently platinum’d my purification medal, but this trainer one feels like an even bigger obstacle. Kudos,” a trainer wrote.
Others called such grinds “beyond dumb,” while some mentioned that the old Pokemon Go Gym system made the Ace Trainer Medal climb easier. “You used to battle yourself, or, your teammates in gyms to level them up, which increased the number of Pokemon that could defend it. So training was an integral part of defending gyms and earning coins.”
They further added, “I was already about 80% done with this platinum without having ever trained against a team leader.” The Team Leader battles are often regarded as boring and monotonous by fans.
When asked what strategy they had used to scale their Ace Trainer Medal, OP replied, “I had a Medicham built for Great League so I would just battle Blanche with Counter/Power-Up Punch over and over while going for walks or while I was bored at work.”
