Pokemon Go Along the Routes: Dates, new NPC Mateo, shiny Hisuian Sneasel debut, more

A new event has been announced by Pokemon Go devs, and here’s everything you need to know about the Along the Routes event, including the debut of the new NPC Mateo.

Pokemon Go is preparing one of the first events for the new season, Timeless Travels, and Pokemon trainers are eager to know about this new NPC called Mateo being rolled out for the event.

The Along the Routes event will focus on the exploration of the Routes feature and also Gift exchange between players. But there are also a couple of surprises waiting for adventurous trainers, including the debut of shiny Sneasel.

So, here’s all you need to know about the Along the Routes event in Pokemon Go, including the start date, bonuses, Research, encounters, and finer details.

Pokemon Go Along the Routes start date

The Pokemon Go Along the Routes event will run from December 5 at 10 AM to December 8 at 8 PM (local time).

Trainers will have a chance to participate and exchange Gifts with players all around the world through the new NPC: Mateo.

Pokemon Go Along the Routes bonuses

The following bonuses will be active during the Pokemon Go Along the Routes event:

• 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in an Incubator during the event.
• 3x XP for spinning PokeStops.
• 5x XP for spinning a PokeStops for the first time.
• 2x Startust from Gifts.

Pokemon Go Along the Routes new NPC Mateo

From December 4, Pokemon Go trainers can meet Mateo, a new NPC, as they reach the end of the Routes they explore.

As you interact with Mateo, this NPC will give you some Gifts and the chance to exchange them with trainers all around the world. This is what you need to do:

1. Talk to NPC Mateo.
2. Choose which gifts to exchange from the Route endpoint, start point, or nearby PokeStop.
3. Add a sticker (optional) and select exchange.
4. You will receive gifts and postcards from other trainers.

Keep in mind that you can only participate in a Gift Exchange with Mateo once a day.

Pokemon Go Along the Routes shiny Hisuian Sneasel debut

Shiny Hisuian Sneasel will appear for the first time in the Pokemon Go Along the Routes event, and trainers can get this rare regional variant of Sneasel by catching it in the wild, from Field Research encounters, or by hatching 7 km Eggs.

Pokemon Go Along the Routes Timed Research

A new Timed Reseach will be available during the Pokemon Go Along the Routes event. Trainers will be required to explore Routes and send Gifts to complete tasks.

Rewards for those tasks include encounters with the following Pokemon:

Pawmi	Wooloo	Feebas	Hisuian Sneasel

Pokemon Go Along the Routes Special Research

A new Special Research story will be available for all trainers with Pokemon Go Along the Routes. According to the info shared by Niantic, it will help players “learn more about Mateo and the power of exchanging Gifts.”

There’s no more information available regarding tasks and rewards for this Special Research, but we will update this post accordingly when more details are released.
