Pokemon Go is still going strong thanks to the many creatures players can get in the mobile game. Among the most sought-after creatures, Rotom is one of the rarest species. The Plasma Pokemon officially debuted in 2020 but players had very few chances to catch it.

How to catch Rotom in Pokemon Go
Pokemon Go players will be able to get Heat Rotom during the Pokemon Go Fest 2024 in-person and global events, so stay tuned.
Those who participated in the Pokemon Go Tour Sinnoh in-person event in February 2024 could redeem the 0HY0UF0UNDM3 code to get a Timed Research that rewarded them with a Rotom encounter. We’ll make sure to update this article once we have more details about the next event featuring Rotom.
This is the only method to get Rotom in Pokemon Go at the moment.
All Rotom forms in Pokemon Go
Rotom, Wash Rotom, Mow Rotom, and Frost Rotom are the only forms currently available in Pokemon Go. Niantic confirmed Heat Rotom will debut during the Pokemon Go Fest 2024 in-person events, so be on the lookout.
Wash Rotom debuted in Pokemon Go Fest 2020 and was featured later during the sixth Pokemon Go anniversary. Mow Rotom was added during Pokemon Go Fest 2022, but was only available for trainers that attended the in-person event. Frost Rotom debuted in Pokemon Go Fest 2023 and was also only available during the in-person celebrations.
These forms could be captured through the photobomb feature, similar to Smeargle.
Lastly, regular Rotom debuted in 2024 for players attending the Go Tour Sinnoh event in Los Angeles. However, any player with the code could claim the Special Research to get the Plasma Pokemon. Rotom can’t change forms like in mainline games, so players must catch each one to get all forms in the mobile game.
It’s not yet known if the remaining form, Fan Rotom, is coming to Pokemon Go, but we’ll keep you updated.
Can Rotom be shiny in Pokemon Go?
Yes, shiny Rotom is available in Pokemon Go alongside shiny versions of Wash Rotom, Mow Rotom, and Frost Rotom. However, since it’s one of the rarest species in the game, the chances of finding shiny Rotom are extremely low.
