Aside from the method above and trading with another player, there is no other way to catch or obtain a Gholdengo, as this Pokemon is not found in the wild.

Where to find Gimmighoul Coins in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Obtaining Gimmighoul Coins is no easy task and it will likely take considerable time before reaching 999.

There are two methods you can utilize to obtain Gimmighoul coins in Scarlet and Violet and they involve both the Chest Form and Roaming Form Gimmighoul versions.

One way of obtaining Gimmighoul Coins is by defeating Chest Form Gimmighoul scattered around Paldea. Once defeated, they will drop between 50 to 60 Gimmighoul Coins that you can collect.

The second method involves finding and chasing Roaming Form Gimmighoul across Paldea.

Chest Form Gimmighoul are limited in number, but luckily they’re easy to find at the top of Watchtowers or inside ruins.

You shouldn’t have a hard time pinpointing their locations across Paldea’s Watchtowers as these structures appear on your Scarlet or Violet map.

Likewise, ruins also appear on your map as rectangular structures. You may need to search for Chest Form Gimmighoul inside of ruins as they aren’t always guaranteed to show up like at the top of Watchtowers.

Roaming Form Gimmighoul are much more difficult to spot and they can be found on rocks, trees, road signs, ruined walls, and several other structures within Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

If you’re playing Scarlet and Violet in handheld mode, these tiny Gimmighouls free of their chests can be tough to spot. Luckily, they make loud noises when a trainer draws near, so playing with your volume turned up is recommended.

Chasing Roaming Form Gimmighoul isn’t as beneficial as defeating Chest Form Gimmighoul as they only drop one to five coins each encounter. However, if you’re looking to get Gholdengo it can’t hurt to approach Roaming Form Gimmighoul when they’re near.
