Overwatch 2 players are keen to see another element return from the original Overwatch, a beloved map that has been described as “beautiful.”

Blizzard has welcomed plenty of new stuff to Overwatch 2 with new heroes as well as the much sought-after Mythic Skins.

But to retain some of the original’s classic vibes, the company has also brought back some classic maps to make the crossover from game to game a lot easier to digest.

Legendary locations such as King’s Row, Dorado, and Hollywood make a welcome transition to Overwatch 2, but lovers of the original game are keen to see another one also make a return.

Overwatch 2 fans desperate for Hanamura map to return

OG Overwatch players will fondly remember dashing through courtyards and castles in the lush backdrop of the game’s Hanamura map.

The Japan-based map was best-remembered for its array of jaw-dropping Cherry Blossom trees scattered throughout that made fighting such a treat.

Reddit user skellyboi04 has already begun the campaign for the map to return with a recent post on the game’s subreddit: “I miss Hanamura, in my opinion, it was one of the best, aesthetically pleasing Maps.”

As well as its default setting looking on point, players also harked on about its seasonal variant: “Winter Hanamura was especially so beautiful,” one player said.

Contrary to the positive comments about the map’s look, it seems like it’s only being requested for this very reason, with some players actually not keen on the map for gameplay purposes.

“Just came to the comments to make sure someone acknowledged the beauty of the map while also pointing out that it sucked,” commented one user, whereas the top comment said: “They absolutely should have reworked this map into a Push or Payload [map]. Beautiful aesthetic and iconic, even though I hated it.”

It’s a weird juxtaposition, but one that clearly shows how much discussion there is about the map. With new maps expected, don’t be surprised to see Blizzard dip back into the old vault and dig up a map like Hanamura for future content.
