The player background

The first major change coming to The W in NBA 2K24 can be found after creating your character. Before starting your career in the WNBA, 2K Games will provide you with two backgrounds for your player: The Prospect and the Undiscovered Gem.

If you choose the Prospect background, you will begin your career with a 75 OVR and be the #1 Overall Draft Pick. Your player will enter the WNBA as a former college star, with the media and fans well aware of her impact on the court.

However, if you choose the Undiscovered Gem background, you will start your journey in the WNBA with an 85 OVR, being an under-the-radar star who will surprise the league with great potential to become the WNBA MVP.

You can choose between the Prospect and the Undiscovered Gem background in NBA 2K24 The W.

The new “In Pursuit of Greatness” feature

This year, 2K Games will introduce the new “In Pursuit of Greatness.” This new feature in The W will be a leaderboard that displays the performance of your player compared to some of the best players in the league. As you get closer to the statistics of those players, you will also see fans debating across social media about who has the edge.

Pick-up games

Another significant change we’ll see in NBA 2K24 The W mode will be the pick-up games. Instead of Contact Challenges where players choose which WNBA contacts to collect, this year they will earn badge perks by competing against a veteran from your team, star players, and historic legends.
