The Mortal Kombat 1 beta finally arrived in August and fans are more excited than ever to play the full release thanks to new features like Kameo Fighters and fresh gameplay.

Mortal Kombat 1 is getting closer and closer, and fans can’t wait to dive into the new experience on September 19. Players who pre-ordered the game had the chance to try some of Mortal Kombat 1’s new features in the recent beta test, and it seems like the franchise is looking to reach new heights.

The Mortal Kombat 1 beta featured six playable characters and only two stages, but that was more than enough to start building hype for the next installment in the franchise. “To be this impressed with the beta… I am very very excited for MK1 on release day,” wrote a longtime fan on Reddit after trying the Mortal Kombat 1 beta in August.

The user, named xinvisionx, also mentioned they were concerned when the Kameo fighters were first announced, but had a great experience with the highly-anticipated new feature: “Thankfully after playing the beta I’ve come to absolutely love it. They’re a small addition, but doesn’t overtake your primary fighter at all. So calling them a kameo is spot on. But they help just enough to where they are quite fun.”

Kameo fighters work like assist fighters in many other fighting games, but players can include them in combos, X-Ray attacks, and even Fatalities for stronger and more gruesome results. Many players are very happy with this addition now that they could try it themselves.

“The flow is great, the skill floor is low and the ceiling is high which is PERFECT for newbies and nerdies alike, the kameo system is integrated beautifully and the roster looks mint as well,” wrote another Reddit user. “I love the Kameo system and the ridiculous creativity and self-expression that’s possible. Seriously, can’t wait,” added another.

What’s more, some players went back to Mortal Kombat 11 to keep in shape until the new installment comes out, but were surprised to find a slower and sloppier experience than they remembered. “MK11 seems rough and doesn’t flow nearly as well in the form of gameplay. So that shows me how much better MK1 is,” the OP stated.

With Kameo fighters, a whole new storyline, many fan-requested returns, and a whole Kombat Pack announced, Mortal Kombat 1 is gearing up to be one of the biggest releases in a year full of big name games.
