How to play Mortal Kombat 1 beta: Platforms & when does it start?

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to arrive later in 2023, and those looking to sharpen their skills can hop into the beta to try out the reboot ahead of time. Here’s how to play the Mortal Kombat 1 beta.
Four years on since the last entry in the series, developer NetherRealm Studios have confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will arrive on September 19, 2023. The reboot is set to bring yet another diverse roster of characters, and fans are already rushing out to pre-order a copy of the game.
Mortal Kombat 1 has an early access period for those who want to get some valuable practice in before the worldwide launch, but there’s also a closed beta to give players their first taste of the action.
Here’s how to play the Mortal Kombat 1 beta, including when it’s set to begin.
How to access Mortal Kombat 1 closed beta
The Mortal Kombat 1 closed beta is available to anyone who has pre-ordered the game on console, regardless of the edition they have purchased. Players looking to gain early access will have to buy either the Premium or Kollector’s Edition, while beta codes come with any pre-order on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.
Unfortunately, the Mortal Kombat 1 beta is console exclusive and a PC version is yet to be announced. This means that, as it stands, PC players will have to wait until the early access period to try out the reboot for the first time.

When is the Mortal Kombat 1 beta?
The devs have confirmed that the Mortal Kombat 1 beta will arrive in August, but no final start date has been announced. Pre-orders went live on May 19, so we expect a concrete date to be revealed in the coming weeks.
There is also currently no word on how long the closed beta will run for, so it could be a weekend in August or a full seven days to give players time to really learn the ropes.
It remains to be seen what content is available in this early version of Mortal Kombat 1, but it will likely feature a reduced pool of modes and fighters compared to the full release.
