Finding the right weapon and rare resources can be a tough task in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but players have discovered a duplication glitch to make the process simpler. Here’s how to perform the duplication glitch in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Travelling Hyrule is no easy task in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as players will run into challenging locations and powerful enemies as they hunt down the many Shrines and armor sets. Luckily, Link is able to use Ultrahand to create makeshift vehicles and cook meals for stat boosts that will make his journey easier.

The only drawback is that you will need to constantly gather resources, and there’s never any guarantee of finding the item you need. Luckily, there’s a handy duplication glitch that lets Tears of the Kingdom players copy items in their inventory.

Here’s how to perform the duplication glitch in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

You’ll need two bows for the duplication glitch in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Players can pull off the duplication glitch by throwing weapons in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, however, there is an element of timing to successfully execute it. We’ve provided a step-by-step guide on how to do the duplication glitch in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom below:

  1. Stand in a flat open area and save your game.
  2. Equip the weapon you want to duplicate.
  3. Hold R to prepare a throw.
  4. Press the minus button (-) to pause the game.
  5. Head to the Adventure Log and watch four Memories in a row.
  6. You can press X and then plus (+) to skip them and speed up the process.
  7. From the Memories section, press plus (+) to open the inventory.
  8. If you don’t see your weapon in your inventory, go ahead and load the previously saved game.
  9. Once the game has loaded, you should see your duplicated weapon in front of you.

This is a relatively straightforward process, and there is no limit on how many times it can be repeated. If you still have your weapon in step 8, you can watch an additional Memory.

Alternatively, you can throw a weapon and pause the game right when it leaves Link’s hands. Then, you can load the game you previously saved. This method has the same result, but it requires a very specific timing to get right. You can check TagBackTV’s video to figure out how to do it.

According to speedrunners, watching a Memory in TOTK makes the game’s physics advance one frame. Watching four Memories in a row will advance the game four frames, which is how long it takes Link to throw the weapon. While the game will “think” you threw it, loading the save will put it back in your inventory, thus duplicating your weapon.

What can the duplication glitch be used on in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

The duplication glitch makes it much easier to get around Hyrule.

The duplication glitch can be used only on weapons in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Sadly, you won’t be able to duplicate other items that easily.

What you can do is fuse different items you want to duplicate to different weapons. Once you’ve done the whole process with those weapons, you can head to Tarrey Town and talk to Pelison to get your materials unfused.

A previous duplication glitch allowed players to duplicate all kinds of items but was patched with version 1.1.2 of the game. However, players can still sell their duplicated weapons for extra Rupees. This allows players to purchase rare items without worrying about using all their money.

It’s worth keeping in mind that there’s a good chance that the new duplication method will also be patched by Nintendo in the coming weeks. So, be sure to make use of it while you still can.
