The Master Sword is the most iconic weapon in the Zelda series, and Tears of the Kingdom players are desperate to get their hands on it. Here’s how to get the Master Sword in Zelda TOTK.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has no shortage of weapons for Link to wield, but the weapon durability feature means that most will break after a handful of uses. As players reach those tougher endgame fights, they’ll be looking for weaponry that can withstand plenty of punishment.

Luckily, the legendary Master Sword can be found in this latest version of Hyrule, and just like in Breath of the Wild, it’s one of the most useful and sought-after weapons in the entire game.

Here’s how to get the Master Sword in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, along with how its durability works.

To secure the Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom, players need to track down all of the 11 Geoglyphs scattered across Hyrule.

After earning all of the Geoglyphs, Princess Zelda’s dragon form will emerge from the skies above Rist Peninsula. A tear will fall from the dragon’s eye which, when triggered, will teleport you to the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower.

From there, head to the east and you’ll find a dragon with the Master Sword lodged in its head.

We’ve got a step-by-step guide on how to get the Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom below:

  1. Collect all 11 Geoglyphs around Hyrule.
  2. Wait for the dragon to appear above Rist Peninsula
  3. Travel to the tear that falls from the dragon’s eye and trigger it.
  4. Go east and find the dragon.
  5. Extract the Master Sword from the dragon’s head.

Follow these steps and the Master Sword will be yours to keep for the remainder of your playthrough in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How much stamina for Master Sword in Zelda TOTK?

To successfully extract the Master Sword in Zelda TOTK, you must have two full stamina wheels. To get two full stamina wheels in TOTK, you’ll need to upgrade your starting Stamina level by obtaining a minimum of five Stamina Vessels.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use any items or food when attempting to extract the Master Sword, so be sure to upgrade your stamina beforehand.

Is the Master Sword destructible in Tears of the Kingdom?

Good news, the Master Sword cannot be broken in Tears of the Kingdom, meaning you don’t have to worry about losing it permanently. Instead, it enters a cooldown phase after a few uses and players must wait ten minutes before they can wield it again.

Don’t worry though, you’ll have time to deal with multiple enemies before the cooldown kicks, and it’s extremely useful against larger minibosses.
