Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to build on the gameplay formula that made so Fallen Order so successful, but will the devs be including a fats travel system this time around? Here’s everything we know about fast travel in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Franchises don’t come much bigger than Star Wars, so it’s no surprise that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being hyped as one of 2023’s biggest games. The follow-up to 2019’s Fallen Order marks continues the story of Cal Kestis, five years on from the first game.

The sequel will look to build on the flashy combat and gameplay of the original, but many fans will be wondering if that includes a fast travel system this time. Fallen Order was criticized at the time for not including a quicker way to get around, making backtracking through old areas feel like more of a chore.

So, will this problem be fixed in the follow-up? Here’s everything announced so far about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor fast travel.

Is there fast travel in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

Good news, the developer Respawn Entertainment have confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will feature a fast travel system, meaning players will be able to get around the various planets much faster than in the first game.

There will also be the option to ride alien creatures to help navigate through the environment, in an effort to speed up how long it takes to backtrack for collectibles and side missions.

In an interview with Play Magazine, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Game Director Stig Asmussen said: “We will feature both fast travel and rideable creatures to help players quickly get from point A to B, and back to A. The fast travel is point-to-point, and the rideable creatures offer a way to quickly negotiate between points and explore what is in between.”

This will be music to the ears of Star Wars fans, as extra travel options should solve one of the largest problems that players had with Fallen Order.

How to fast travel in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The devs haven’t confirmed exactly how the fast travel feature in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will work just yet, but it appears that there will be specific points around each map that can be used as travel hubs.

These checkpoints will likely need to be discovered naturally before they can be used, but once unlocked you will be able to travel between any two at will.

Meanwhile, the areas in between fast travel points can be traversed quickly with Cal’s various force abilities or one of the rideable mounts mentioned by Asmussen.

We’ll be sure to update this page as soon as we have a more in-depth explanation of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s fast travel system.
