GoldenEye 007 was released back in 1997, and many consider it one of the first FPS experiences on a home console that features both single-player and multiplayer modes.
The original developers of GoldenEye 007, Rare, officially announced that after 25 years since the original’s release, fans will finally be able to experience a recreation of GoldenEye 007.

GoldenEye 007 release date
The re-release of GoldenEye 007 will arrive on Friday, January 27, 2023.
The devs officially revealed the release date on January 25, just two days before the arrival of GoldenEye 007. Players who are eager to jump back into the role of James Bond won’t have to wait long.
What platforms will GoldenEye 007 be available on?
GoldenEye 007’s re-release will be available on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles, with the latter featuring “achievements, 4K resolution and a smoother framerate – even in split-screen local multiplayer!”
Nintendo Switch players will need access to the Switch Online service and its Expansion Pack add-on that delivers the N64’s library of games.
Unfortunately, it will not be available on PlayStation or PC, and its arrival on Xbox begs the question of whether or not it will arrive on GamePass.
Is GoldenEye 007 coming to Xbox GamePass?
The developers confirmed that GoldenEye 007 will be available on Xbox GamePass once the game releases, giving subscribers the game for no extra fee.
How will GoldenEye 007’s online multiplayer work?
GoldenEye 007 will feature an online multiplayer mode for the first time ever, only on the Nintendo Switch.
While the game will also arrive on Xbox GamePass, the iconic multiplayer mode will only be available locally.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch version of GoldenEye 007 will exclusively feature an online multiplayer mode as well as local multiplayer.
This means that those playing GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo Switch will be able to connect with others online to play the classic four-person multiplayer mode but remember, you’ll need access to Nintendo Switch Online + the Expansion Pack.
