Resident Evil 4 is regarded as a pioneer of the third-person action-adventure genre, and Capcom’s legendary title has been reimagined for a new generation. Let’s take a look at Resident Evil 4’s release date, gameplay, and more.

Despite being the start of a tonal shift towards more explosive and action-infused zombie-killing antics, Resident Evil 4 encompassed all the great qualities of the series up to that point back in 2005.

In recent times, Resident Evil fans have been firmly in control of Ethan Winters across his adventures in Resident Evil 7 against the Baker family, and the horrors of Resident Evil Village.

Even though Resident Evil 9 is rumored to be in development, we are set to take a slight detour by going down a road of pure nostalgia. The Resident Evil 4 Remake brings to life one of the series’s greatest accomplishments, so let’s run through what we know about the survival-horror game.

Resident Evil 4 Remake release date

If you’re not already aware, then strap yourself in as the Resident Evil 4 Remake is set to terrorize platforms when it launches on March 24, 2023.

This date has been locked in for some time now, so it seems highly likely things will change between now and then and we’ll get to wield Leon’s handgun before too long.

Resident Evil 4 Remake platforms

Anyone interested in the Resident Evil 4 Remake will be curious as to which platforms the game will be on, and we can confirm that the survival shooter will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Resident Evil 4 Remake gameplay

The Resident Evil 4 Remake retains its third-person identity that made the original so successful, but it will also go one step further by incorporating some features and gameplay nuances from the successful Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 Remakes.

Thanks to Game Informer, we know that QTEs have been omitted completely, which has been quite divisive in the Resident Evil community, meaning there will be more of an emphasis on Leon’s combat knife and players being able to concentrate on cutscenes more.

Not only that, but the game has unsurprisingly undergone a seismic overhaul in the visual and presentation department. It looks like a fully-fledged next-gen title and looks even more gruesome and horrifying – as it should be.

Side missions will now flesh out the gameplay even more, and there are many other new elements in the form of never-before-seen enemies, a new crossbow, and new in-game commands and prompts to flesh out Leon’s capabilities even more.

One big detail that remains untouched is the layout of the game as each element of the game: the Village, Castle, and Island sections will still be in the game and also reimagined.

Resident Evil 4 Remake trailers

The first existence of the Resident Evil 4 Remake surfaced via the game’s debut teaser trailer, and you can check that out below.

Next up for the game was the much-anticipated 2nd trailer for Resident Evil 4 Remake. It offered up a bit more about the style of the game and how players might expect to see the entire title play out.

Our most recent look at Capcom’s horror title took place at the Resident Evil Showcase event in 2022, and it was the most gameplay-focused spectacle to date.

There are plenty of other games coming out in the future, so let’s check out some of our other game hubs below:
