After being rumored for many months, the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition is now looming large as a new Rockstar Games Launcher update has all but confirmed its existence.

Initial reports of a proper Grand Theft Auto: Remastered Trilogy first surfaced back in January 2021. Kotaku claimed in August 2021 that Rockstar was working on it, the game recently showed up on a Korean rating board, and now GTA Trilogy files appear to have been accidentally leaked by Rockstar Games.

The official Rockstar Games Launcher that allows seamless access to all of their major games has recently been updated, and it has included details about the GTA Trilogy.

Additionally, more leaks have confirmed extra details about the game including official artwork and achievement details.

GTANET seemed to be the first page to report on the Rockstar Games Launcher information, and the first telltale sign of the Trilogy being official was a particular bit of coding.

The files were shown on the GTAForums website, and in one post, we saw several images concerning the GTA Trilogy.

Taken directly from the Rockstar Launcher, under a section about “Decoded text,” towards the end of the line were the words “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – Unreal…

A big aspect of this to take is the presence of the word “Unreal,” indicating that GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas could all now be running on the Unreal Engine – regarded by many as the best and most powerful game engine in the world.

In addition to this, several other new bits of information have been leaked regarding potential assets for the game, including logos – also from the Rockstar Launcher.

These are exciting times as after many standard rereleases, the original PS2-era GTA games could finally be set for a big spruce up.

As soon as the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition is official, we’ll let you know with some major updates regarding its status.
