After originally being revealed in the PS5’s first showcase, GTA V will come to next-gen hardware on March 15, 2022. Rockstar Games finally gave us an update on Grand Theft Auto V’s remaster through a February 4 community update blog post. We also got confirmation that GTA VI is in development.

While it was initially thought the game would arrive on the PlayStation 5 on November 11, the updated version was pushed back towards the end of 2021.

GTA V PS5 & Xbox Series S|X new features

Rockstar have confirmed that the game will release with “new features and more,” which lines up with their previous statement that GTA V remastered won’t be a “simple port.”

Some new features include the ability to skip the GTA V Story Mode prologue before entering Online and offering returning players a chance to restart their character and take advantage of the Career Builder at any time.

While GTA V has been out for eight years, GTA Online remains insanely popular and continues to receive continuous support. The blog confirms that “Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S features new graphics modes with up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, texture and draw distance upgrades, HDR options and ray-tracing…”

As previously announced by Rockstar, although GTA Online standalone will be available for both consoles, PlayStation 5 players will receive GTA Online standalone for free “during the first three months.”
