With a new approach to the souls-like niche, Lords of the Fallen is the newest RPG that takes inspiration from FromSoftware’s work on Dark Souls and Elden Ring. With two different realms and much more to explore aside from brutal combat mechanics, the game has plenty of hype behind it.

As the developers have confirmed, the game has a pretty accessible multiplayer experience with both co-op and PvP available. To top it all off, it also has crossplay between PC and consoles. As there is much to wrap their heads around, many fans wonder how the multiplayer will work in LOTF.

Here’s everything you need to know about multiplayer gameplay in Lords of the Fallen.

Lords of the Fallen co-op multiplayer explained

Lords of the Fallen will allow you to pair up with one other player to tackle the threats in Mounstead, according to the developers. You cannot add more than one person to your party at a time as that will hamper the difficulty balance of the game.

Lords of the Fallen co-op gameplay
You can co-op with a friend or a stranger in the game.

Obviously, the one who summons the other player into their world is the host and decides where they want to go and explore. Keep in mind that if you are summoned into another player’s world, no matter how much you two traverse and explore together, the story in your own personal world will not progress.

If you have played similar games such as Elden Ring, this sort of co-op gameplay will be familiar to you. However, keep in mind that if you can invite a player into your world, you can also get invaded by hostile players.

Lords of the Fallen PvP explained

PvP in Lords of the Fallen is pretty simple, that is, you can get invaded by other players during your playthrough. This can be a fairly challenging aspect of the game as players of various builds can face you in combat.

There are also PvP-designated areas in the game, solely for the purpose of multiplayer combat. Similarly, you can also invade another player’s world and try your hand at the newest PvP mechanic in the game. Keep in mind that an invader only has one life, and can’t use the game’s famous resurrection mechanic through the lamp.
