Lords of the Fallen gameplay & story details

Gameplay

Lords of the Fallen is an action RPG title that allows you to completely create and customize your own character with a “wide array of visual options.” You will select a character class and develop your character with either or both melee weapons and magic.

There’s a lot of freedom in Lords of the Fallen, as players will upgrade their stats in whatever fashion they wish, as well as donning weapons, armor, and spells of their choice. The gameplay is similar to that of the Dark Souls franchise, with tactical melee and magic combat from the third-person perspective.

The world is said to be “interconnected,” with a unique mechanic that sees players journeying across “two expansive, parallel worlds.” These two worlds are said to be the realm of the living (Axiom) and the realm of the dead (Umbral), which players will flick between using a magical lantern in order to progress, changing the dynamics of the map and more.

If the player dies in Axiom, the realm of the living, they will be transported to Umbral, the realm of the dead, in order to retrieve their lost XP, but if they fail, all will be lost.

Story details

You play as one of the “fabled Dark Crusaders,” who are ultimately tasked with defeating the demon God, Adyr. Despite the God being defeated previously, “aeons later,” Adyr has returned, and as his resurrection draws closer, you have been called upon to prevent the demon God from ruling once again.
