Genshin Impact version 4.0 is live, but seas in Fontaine are not going to stay calm for long, as version 4.1 of Genshin Impact is around the corner. So, here’s all we know about Genshin Impact version 4.1, including release dates, banners, events, and more.

The theatrics of Fontaine in Genshin Impact will continue with the upcoming updates. Inspired by France with a touch of steam-punk aesthetics, Fontaine has already introduced us to three new playable characters, including the region’s most famed magician, Lyney.

Besides all the farce and the magic shows, Fontaine doesn’t miss on the usuals of Genshin Impact—more Oculus to collect, chests to loot, and more materials to farm. But the game will continue to bring more content, as version 4.1 will add another highly-anticipated character and region expansion.

So here’s everything we know about Genshin Impact’s upcoming 4.1 version update.

Is there a Genshin Impact version 4.1 release date?

Genshin Impact 4.1 is expected to be released on September 27, 2023. This is based on the game’s normal cycle of releasing new versions every six weeks

That’s also the date when phase 2 of version 4.0 will end and will see Zhongli and Tartaglia re-run along with Freminet saying goodbye to the featured limited banner.

Genshin Impact version 4.1 story and expansion details

v4.1 of Genshin Impact will bring two brand new areas called the Fortress of Meropide and Fontaine Research Institute.

The Fortress of Meropide – Liffey Region

Wriothesley serves as a warden in the Fortress of Meropide.

The Fortress of Meropide rests deep beneath the seas of Fontaine, which houses all the exiles who failed to uphold the law in the Nation of Justice. It is not bound by the stringent laws of Fontaine, so our blonde-haired hero will have to sneak under the pretense of false charges.

Fontaine Research Institute

Fontaine Research Institute has invented many things that have helped Fontaine.

The institute’s lofty ambitions to sail away from the prophecy set it ablaze, leaving remnants of the old institute embedded in the sky, forever levitating. You can explore the floating parts, as they inhabit aquatic life. Besides its lore significance, details on the involvement of the area in the upcoming Archon quest are unclear.

A 4.1 map showcasing the extended areas of Fontaine was leaked before we had confirmation. We don’t have a full map of the extended Fontaine region other than the leak.

Keep in mind that the expansion’s main focus is the Fortress of Meropide, which is underwater, and the map only shows the land extension. The expansion will be the continuation of the current Fontaine Archon Quest, adding Act III and IV of Fontaine’s Archon Questline, but it won’t be the finale as it is set to stretch to v4.2.

The Experimental Field Generator can be found in the other added region in 4.1, Fontaine Research Institute. Fitting to the fate the institute endured, the Experimental Field Generator will generate an anti-gravity field.
